I have a 10-year-old bearded dragon, Corbin. He is not crazy-picky, but he is kind of finicky and is getting lazy in his targeting of live bugs, here lately.
I have started traveling recently and need an easy substitute for folks looking after my Corbin.
I looked for alternatives to live bugs and came up with this product.
It seems to have all of the “right stuff”; although, I am concerned about calcium content, as that is vital to any reptile in captivity. (I have had reptiles as pets for the past 40 years. Calcium and proper lighting are the keys.)
At any rate, the product is easy enough to prepare. If one can measure 3 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of the mix and boil water, you got this!
It sets up nicely, where you can cut it into small cubes. It also does not smell terrible (as some reviews have stated). It smells earthy – like what you would expect a lizard to eat.
I introduced it with a few super worms crawling in it, and by the end of the introduction, Corbin was eating the chunks of this food on his own.
I think I have a great alternative to live food as my boy enters his senior years. So far, so good!

I will say my beardie is very picky! So when I put this in his dish, put the cover on his tank, and sat on the couch watching him from the corner of my eye and he turned away 😳 I thought more money wasted! NOT THE CASE He went back and ate 3 squares but stopped when I pulled my phone out to film him, 🤷🏻♀️ He is in heaven with this food! I will post a video when I can! —Goddess

Man does this stuff work, my beardie has never ate this type of food before. And when he ran out of live foods, this made up for it. I mean he was enticed by it right away, this is a bearded dragon that was only introduced to veggies and live food.

My 4 year old beardie loves this stuff!! I compliment it with some fresh veggies and he definitely getting the nutrients he’s been lacking. Very easy product to use and store. A bit pricey but hey, at least he’s getting what he needs. Extremely happy!!

Had a hard time the first few times ,almost gave up till I realized the water has to be BOILING .. not warm or tap water hot…or it won’t gel . My 3 Dragons took a few days of constant trying to convince them to eat non-moving foods ..but once they did it is now there favor food. I love everything about how easy it is , helped save my sick dragon who wouldn’t eat, now has weight back one in just a few weeks!! I didn’t think it was going work, it smells gross like vitamins or something but they all love it and I very happy with it, only thing is I wish it was a little more affordable!

My boy is 2 years old and ONLY ever had fresh greens and live bugs. But that gets expensive! So I was looking for a supplement. This is easy to mix and he seems to like it. I got a 1.5 cup Tupperware with lid and mixed it directly in there, cut into chunks, and store in there as well.
He eats it without protest. I do have to hand feed it and “jiggle” it a bit to get him interested lol…when I sat it on top of his greens, he ignored it. Probably because he’s used to chasing it.
Pro tips: be aware how much you mix at once. The first time I did 1/4 cup of feed to 3/4 cup water. It doesn’t seem like much but this is very filling so some went bad before I could use it. So now I mix a tablespoon at a time.
To address the smell that some reviews mention: it smells earthy. As it should. It isn’t pleasant to me but not rancid either. The dragon seems to enjoy it.
Lastly, he will still get some bugs 🐛 for enrichment but this is a great substitute.

Mixed up a small batch, (this stuff smells horrid ) waited for it to set up and cut it. Thought this would be pretty easy to feed the girls. Nope. One of them licked it then turned around and the other took a bit and wanted nothing to to with it after that bite. Both of them ate their bugs and veggies after I attempted to give them the dragon bite. I’m a little disappointed, this stuff is very expensive for what it is. I wad just hoping I would have something easy to feed the girls if we were away and had someone else over to care for them and our other pets.

He won’t even try it… it doesn’t smell very appealing to me I can’t imagine how it smells to him. Also the directions aren’t very correct. Took half the bag just to figure out how to make it a jelatin in stead of a thick ass paste… key is super hot water. Just at boiling point and do about a quarter cup more water then the directions state or it will be a past not a gelatine… it’s ot appealing for my big guy and I’m not going to pressure him into eating it either. I know if I don’t like something, I’ll be damned if someone’s going to make me eat it…. nope… not happenin…. so Dunia roaches, super worms, and very seldom banded crickets. And only as a occasional snack not even his meal. Crickets are nasty and have pests and diseases so my big boy is sticking eith home bread goodies and all the veggies and good fruits mommy can grow and provide as much as possible. Only reason I got this is because of the nutritional values it says it has and the bonding experience of hand feeding… unfortunately this is a no go and my bearded dragon is not pleased and neither am I. AT ALL. Not cool.
