Over the winter months in the northeast United States, I generally keep my Kymco Like 200i on a maintainer, save maybe a quick ride during a thaw or moving it from the garage for a big DIY project where I might need the space. When the bike wouldn’t start, I assumed it was the battery that had 4-5 years on it, so that was the first thing I replaced.

Still, no dice. I figured out that it was the solenoid through some testing, and got a quote from the local dealership — $100 installed. No way, said the stubborn dude — and Amazon brought me to this.

Anyway, that was last winter and this thing is still holding strong with regular use. The most complicated part of the swap was removing the plastics to gain access. Seriously, don’t spend your hard earned money on a shop or dealership replacement when you can just as easily do it yourself for under ten dollars. There are plenty of YouTube resources on how to do this, and the time commitment is minimal — worst case scenario, I’d imagine 2-3 hours, but I was able to finish up in under an hour.

It remains to be seen if this will last for years, but I’ve noticed no deterioration in quality after 200+ starts. For the price, you certainly can’t beat it.

Unfortunately the electrical leads were not long enough for my Saga scooter, but it was an easy fix.

Heard this fits most scooters. We had a problem just trying to get a start noise from the engine. This connects the battery to the motor to start. After a few tries it started right up after being dead for about a year.

Problem is, I wanted to use it for high amperage momentary spot welds. It worked for a couple of tries, then spot welded itself on. Not their fault.
