I purchased this just to take off and use the hardware on a snare drum that I was building. The throw off isn’t the greatest of design: It reaches the tightest point before gets to the locked position. In the locked position, the snare strap is a little loose. There isn’t an adjustment point where the snare strap would be at the right tension. For what I needed, it is a cheap alternative to buying brand name parts. But everybody that has tried out the snare drum has complained about the throw off design. Somebody had actually tried to stuff something at the lever to stop the travel before the snare strap loosens. This only helped a little.

This exceeded my expectations. Been playing drums for over 14 years and this is a quality drum for a budget drummer,beginner or even a professional. Right out the box it sounds decent but after putting on a professional drum head it is a beauty. I would highly recommend this drum to any drummer looking for a new sound or even a snare under 100 dollars. Edit have had the snare for a while now some minor issues that were easily fixed recommend replacing rims and snare wire hardware still highly recommend just may need to be replaced with pro hardware.
