Allen Edmonds Men’s Dalton Fashion Boot

Perfect fit. Perfect price. Perfect service from Amazon. I don’t regret my purchase at all. The boots are beautiful in real life and, for me at least, had minimal break in time. Make sure you purchase a shoe tree and some products to keep them nice and you’re good to go. (I liked the walnut Daltons so much that I actually bought a pair in black a week later!)

These shoes are exceptional. However the leather bottoms won’t hold up well in gravel or none urban environments. You can order them with rubber soles directly from Allen Edmonds for an up charge. The rubber sole is considered less formal in the high fashion world. I personally think they still look great with the rubber sole and will hold up a lot better over time.

Saw this 1st at the AE store. I was looking for boots for past 8 to 6 months, but were unable to find one that I can use day to day to casual to formal. I never knew anything about AE, until I walked into the store. Rep told be we have been in business for 90 years, and all of our shoes are made in USA. I told my self ok, and looked around and left. Researched about the AE, and went back for a pare of dress shoe. It didn’t look quite right, on my way out saw these, and was in love. All I can say they go with everything, and very well made. Buy them, and you will never look back. I would recommend getting the right size, I spent 40 min at the store just trying few sizes. With the correct size, they fit like gloves. Got it it on Amazon on sale for $300.00.

Have been looking for a similar pair of similar quality below $400 for several years now. Simply put, I love these. They look sharp with a nice pair of jeans and with or without sport coat. The sole is ample thick and provides good traction and the leather is relatively soft and comfortable. I had purchased another similar pair of Allen Edmonds where the leather was so tough, I’ve never been able to wear them long enough to break them in, as the discomfort is just too much. These Men’s Dalton boots I absolutely love. If you’re looking for a great pair of dressy ankle height boots that draw plenty of compliments, these are for you.

***UPDATE AFTER 8 MONTHS***
The boots hold up very very well. I wear them a couple times per week and they still look brand new WITHOUT even applying a conditioner or anything to color enhance them. I usually just wipe the dirt off with a soft, dry cloth. Would absolutely buy another pair of these boots

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have owned these boots for a few months. I have NEVER received so many compliments on any other boot (or anything else I’ve ever worn). This is my second Allen Edmonds pair of boots (I also own a few pairs of their dress shoes). My best purchase from Allen Edmonds.

PROs:
(1) Fit is perfect. Size 11 fits as size 11. I have wide feet that often feel squeezed in designer boots, but that isn’t a problem with this boot.
(2) Very classy and can be worn with suits (designer jeans are almost not good enough to wear with these boots). I cannot overstate how aesthetically pleasing these boots are.
(3) Have worn these for about four months and overall they still look new (and do not feel broken in yet).

CONs:
(1) High quality but fragile leather. I drive a lot for business and the heel of my right boot sits on the floor when my foot is on the gas pedal. After wearing these maybe once per week for 4 months there is a half dollar coin sized worn scuff spot.

Looked even better in person. Quality is exceptional. I had read on style forums that the boots might fit a little long. This appears to be case with me. I typically wear a 12, however an 11.5 fit like a glove (though I don’t know that I would recommend a person necessarily order a half size down – the difference is not that dramatic).

Would absolutely recommend these to others!

I’m wearing it around the house to break it in. Noticed that the ankle part is a bit loose. I changed out the laces and laced it this way to break in the shoes first. Bc the boots come up past the ankles it’s hard to walk and cuts into that part of the leg so it’s best to not lace it all the way up until broken in. The leather is thinner than my Thursday boots but somehow it’s stiffer. It’s not heavy at all. I plan to wear them as causal semi-formal office boots. I like the rubber sole. It will be useful walking in snow/rain outside.

Pro: beautiful, light weight, rubber sole. Got it on sale for about $114.
Con: fits loose around the ankle, runs too high not allowing for ankle movement.

I will keep them.
