Pro’s: Price, quality of product, and the close-up items are AMAZING!!!! WOW! I was impressed by my photos of some flowers that I took to test this newly purchased lens for my Nikon D3100 camera. I was not even trying to take a good photo. I was just taking something quick to test it. I was pleased that it came with two caps and a case/pouch.
Con’s: I’m not so sure how great the wide angle is. I’ve only tested it inside a house so maybe it performs better outside. Like others have said, I too got a fishbowl look to my photos for the wide angle. It was attached to my Nikon’s 18-55 lens. I tested it again taking the same picture but with different zooms (18, 35, 55) and two out of the three had the framing and fishbowl look. I think it was the 18 that did not have any issues, so I guess this wide-angle lens works best at 18.

    Camera – Nikon D3400

Pro – This now helps in taking those wide angle n macro photo of you are fan of it. This is an add on to your existing 18-55 lens.

Con – threads are bit delicate i feel n can’t be used with a hood (if any one know please let me know)

Other wise is a great addition to my camera. Go for it.

So what do you get for 28 bucks?
I am a pro and thought i would give this a try before i go and drop 5 large on a real wide angle lens.
    The Good:

Pretty nice glass for the money, in the pic with the wire rim of my readers the glass is pretty clear, better than i expected for the money for the macro only part. Given you are putting another layer of glass between your subject and the sensor i could see using this now and again. It did mess with the AF a little so I switched to MF and simply moved the camera closer till i got the focus point I wanted.

Doesn’t take a lot of light away.

As for the wide angle, well it’s ok. If I zoom up a little to get rid of the vignetting it seems to have mostly a usable area but……

    Now for the Bad:

The focus drops off severely around the outer edges and there is some color aberrations to contend with along the edges as well. My pics have un-cropped/uncorrected, cropped/uncorrected, useable cropped/uncorrected, un-cropped/corrected at the 18-55 and finally un-cropped/corrected using the canon 8mm correction in adobe PS CS6. You can judge for yourself. As a pro I will toss this in the bag and I could see using it in an unrestrained crop situation but it’s usefulness is limited at 16:9 crop.

Like I said, for 28 bucks what the hell, the macro works pretty well, the glass is great for the money and it could come in handy in some situations.

Both the macro portion and the wide angle portion works as advertised
The macro portion can be partnered with extension tubes to get really close focussing distance.

I needed a wide angle lense for my Canon r50. I just bought the camera as my first camera. I was shocked at how much actual Canon lenses cost. 💀 I saw this little guy. I tried it. And…. it WORKS GREAT! I mostly use my camera so far for live streaming and I need to expand the view of my stream area. This works great. Honestly, never pay for a Canon brand, when this is perfect! I haven’t tried the macro (up close) option on the lense yet, but I would be willing to bet its just as good

I can hardly contain my excitement about the Altura Photo lens attachment! It’s like wielding a magic wand that instantly broadens your photographic horizons.

The attachment process is a breeze; it effortlessly screws onto the front of your lens, granting you access to breathtaking wide-angle photography. What’s more, the detachable macro lens is a hidden gem for capturing intricate close-ups of tiny subjects. Essentially, it’s like owning two remarkable lenses rolled into one.

The compatibility of this attachment is jaw-dropping. It fits my Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR lens like a glove and harmonizes flawlessly with various other 55MM lens models from different brands. Altura Photo has truly considered every angle.

This attachment has revolutionized my photography. Be it landscapes, architecture, or intimate encounters with nature, the results are nothing short of spectacular. The widened perspective injects a whole new dimension into my shots, making them utterly captivating.

I’m particularly grateful for Altura Photo’s meticulous attention to compatibility details. Their guide on verifying your camera’s lens thread size was incredibly insightful and saved me from ordering the wrong attachment.

What’s more, Altura Photo stands firmly behind this product, offering a 90-Day Satisfaction Guarantee, which speaks volumes about their confidence in its quality.

In closing, if you’re aiming to elevate your photography game, don’t miss out on this lens attachment. It’s a fantastic investment that will unleash a world of creative possibilities. Trust me; you won’t be disappointed!

I have a Canon M50 with a standard 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens. At the wide angle (at 15 mm), a black circle surrounds the frame (four corners). You need to zoom in to 20/22 mm to avoid this issue. Macro is good if you need a macro for Canon M50 with standard 15-45mm.
    I have to return this.
