The Amaste electric kettle is a staple in my household, used more frequently than you might imagine! Its versatility was a revelation to me after receiving it for review. Beyond brewing tea and hot cocoa, it’s also great for pre-boiling water for the rice cooker, which is especially effective for crafting perfect Japanese sticky rice. It’s equally useful for instant oatmeal and Cream of Wheat. I’ve even used it to boil water for unclogging drains with baking soda and vinegar—a frequent necessity in a home with many girls with long hair. It’s convenient for heating water in a pan or sink when dishes have piled up, thwarting the kids’ attempts to delay hand washing by waiting for the dishwasher. They quickly learn that adding a pot of boiled water to tepid dishwater makes the task much more pleasant and efficient. Boiled water proves incredibly handy while traveling as well. For instance, placing the kettle beneath a wrinkled garment and allowing the steam to gently release the wrinkles without causing the whistle to sound. It’s also perfect for preparing a cup of instant coffee. We’ve even abandoned microwaving ramen noodles; boiling water and a three-minute wait yield perfect results. This kettle heats swiftly, operates silently, and its retro design with an integrated thermometer lends a delightful vintage flair. The addition of the window at the bottom in the front is really great because you can see if you have enough water in the kettle without having to look inside the top. But even if you forget to notice and end up running it dry, this one has an auto shut of mechanism, so no damage is done to the heating element. Genius!
Highly recommended and widely used, this appliance is a must-have for every couple setting up their first home or for every college student moving into the dorms. It’s a choice you won’t regret!

This unit is far better than the chefman, my previous unit. The thermometer is a good addition. I use it more than I expected. The 304 stainless should last, if I avoid boiling it dry.

This is a very attractive kettle. It’s very easy to use… just fill it and hit the lever. When it boils, it shuts off. Easy peasy. I love the silicone grip handle and how the lever lights up in purple when the water is heating. The only thing I find inconvenient is that the kettle requires a minimum amount of water which is a bit more than it take to make two mugs of tea. Since I use fresh bottled spring water for tea, there’s always water left in the kettle which, since I always use fresh water, I always discard before making another two cups of tea.

A very attractive kettle, love that I can see the amount of water inside and the current temperature.

This kettle is huge, which I love. I’ll be taking it on the road to make my tea while staying in hotels.
It’s easy to use, since there isn’t much to do to make it work. That being said, it has no timers, no temperature settings that you regulate by flipping a switch or something like that, no fancy screen. It has a dial on the front to show what temp it’s at. You just plug up the base, set the kettle in place, and flick the clear plastic switch at the base to On. There are two symbols, I and O, for On and Off. Easy to figure out. Watch your temp gauge and run a timer to figure out how long it takes to get you where you want. I would not walk away from this in a home with small children if they can reach the counters. Like all countertop kettles, there’s nothing holding it onto the base, so it’s no safer than boiling water on the stove.
The heating is all internal, through rods. The lid locks into place and a simple twist opens it. The handle is plastic and folds aside for easy access to the lid and the inside of the kettle. The opening is a great size for me to fit my hand inside to wash this, but a baby bottle brush will work just as well, if you’re steeping tea inside this kettle. I personally wouldn’t, because there are elements on the outside of this that should not get wet. This is just a water heater, basically. Pour the hot water into something else, a different kettle, a pitcher, many cups, and steep your stuff there, to keep this clean and sanitary without having to wash it constantly. You’ll keep the electric elements on the outside safer that way for a lot longer.
I got the cream, and I wish that I had gotten the green. The cream is a nice color, a farmhouse look, clean, but it’s a bit underwhelming for me, as it’s already taken some damage to the coating from me taking off the lid a few times. It’s kind of like having a white sink. Brush it with a metal pan and it gets those gray streaks immediately. I literally replaced my white sink because of that, lol.
Anyway, I like the simplicity of it, and the huge capacity. There’s a clear window up the side of the kettle and it’s marked with measurements to see how much water you’ve put in as you’re filling it. Very cool feature. I also love that it has a metal pour spout.
Anyway, it’s a great kettle for home or travel, at least if you drive like I do and have the space for it. It works great and heats up the water in a reasonable amount of time, I’d say. It’s easy to use and clean, and it has a huge capacity. The cream needs more attention to cleaning when taking the lid on and off, but that’s the only negative for me. And it’s a small one in my eyes. It’s great quality and a great price.
