The number of channels on a network has increased with the rise of digital media. I bought this to allow twice the channels as our older Arris modem. After our provider had done their magic the modem was working fine. Our network is now running more smoothly and dependable with fewer drops. Not the latest but it has met our needs.

Looked new – Definitely saw throughput improvements over my Surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 with only 4 channels. Previously was not taking advantage of my 300mbps Comcast Internet with the old modem.

(Disclaimer… I am a novice when it comes to this stuff) I hate to give this modem a bad rating because all I’ve read on it indicates it does a great job. However, this router did not work for me because it will not work with fiber optic internet. I realize there is a disclaimer stating such in the description, but it should provide more explanation than it does. For example, my wifi (Verizon/Frontier and now Ziply Fiber) is fiber optic, but my connection to the modem is a coax cable (and not a fiber optic connection). This caused me confusion as to whether this modem would work or not. I did some internet surfing and it was listed as a modem that would work with a fiber optic signal. I even went so far as to call Arris and THEIR OWN TECH said as long as I had the coax cable connection, that it would work. Well… they were wrong. Yes, it has a coax cable connection, but it uses MoCA (Multi-media over coax alliance) technology. Therefore, the signal is different and this modem will not accept the fiber optic signal. I am returning the modem. I instead used the combo (modem/router) provided by my internet provider, disabled the router on the combo unit and am using my new Eero Pro6 as my router/mesh network. Success! The Eero Pro6 is great (but the app could be better).

I wanted to save money with a refurbished unit because Im not sure I’ll be staying with Breezeline but I didn’t want to pay to rent their equipment in the meantime and it seems perfectly fine. It did arrive in just what would be the inner plain cardboard box of a new unit, not even taped closed so luckily it didnt pop open in route but everything seemed to be there. Works fine, it seems to run a little warm so I’d make sure it’s not enclosed in a small space. Ideally I wish it had a second Ethernet port because I use a magic jack voip unit but I just switched it into an open port on my router.I downloaded the surfboard app and tried to use that to activate it with Breezeline, it’s handy because it will directly contact most of the carriers right within thr app but unfortunately with Breezeline they need the mac address from the modem so I had to contact Breezeline directly through online chat to provide it but it still wasn’t a lengthy process, possibly using the surfboard app will work with other carriers.. performance is good , I’ve run speed tests and getting just as fast and possibly a slightly faster connection than with the original Hitron unit from Breezeline

Purchase one before this. But what’s not compatible on spectrum’s network. This unit was plug and play. Plugged it into the coaxial called customer service and had the Mac switched over. Within 4 minutes I was set up and going. For the price I would recommend it to anyone.
