This is a great setup with everything you need for plug-and-play. Using it for a Home theater. I was able to set up and connect to the internet very quickly. Everything on that end works great. Overall, the Dell OptiPlex 7040 SFF is a good choice. I like the small footprint and find the Dell OptiPlex 7040 SFF to be a capable machine.

I bought this after reading the reviews as I needed a new home computer. I’m not a fan of laptops which has limited opportunities to upgrade so I went with this desktop and to date I am very pleased with it. It is very quick and responds instantly to the internet or other software. I haven’t loaded all of my software on it yet but I am impressed so far. Loving it. The only issue I had is the delivery. UPS delivered it to the wrong address and I’m pleased to say my neighbor dropped it off at my residence. I called UPS but they wanted me to send feedback to the seller. Not good UPS.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t get it to start up. Had to send it back.

So far, so good. I needed a processing power upgrade to speed up digital picture processing. Mine also came with a 4TB secondary hard drive, vs. the 2TB advertised, which was/is nice. The documentation is minimal and could be much better with very little effort. The wireless keyboard/mouse work fine but zero documentation on Brand or function. This is my 2nd review submission and I still have no idea why the 1st was rejected. Community Guidelines? Of course time will tell about it’s durability. If this review survives muster, and if there is a problem with the system in the future, I will edit this review in the future.

Firstly, I am impressed with the overall quality of the product. I have ordered two of them, and they both arrived very clean and in good condition. Also, they are plenty fast enough most use cases.
There are a couple of things to be aware of however. The WIFI adapter is NOT WIFI 6 as the product description says. Both of the desktops I ordered shipped with older dual band adapters that would not connect to my WIFI 6 network.
Secondly, just beware that the CPU is not on the Windows 11 supported list (too old), and so you will not be able to upgrade to Windows 11 at all. Windows 10 has an end of life of October 14, 2025 after which you will not receive any security updates. You can of course install Linux.

Worked well for what I use it for but now it feels like it crashes everytime I use it. I only bought this maybe a few months ago. I’m in a cycle of constantly having it restart then hold my breath until the inevitable crash. I learned to save my work often.

It seems quick and has lots of storage

I am 100% pleased with the machine I received. It looked and performed as good as new. Setup was quick and easy. You have to understand that this is an older machine, and it will not upgrade to Windows 11, but it is a great value, and I would not hesitate to buy it again. There was one small issue with the keyboard. For some reason, it was warped and would not set flat on the desk. I contacted the seller, and they immediately sent me a replacement by express delivery. I could not have asked for better service.

I spent couple of months to find a good desktop PC. This is really powerfull and good for value

I bought it used…sorry: “refurbished,” so it all boils down to longevity, dunnit? As she sits–with a 3.4 Ghz i7 CPU, 32 megs of fast RAM, a 1-Tb SSD and a 2-Tb HDD, for under $250–it’s a bargain, right? Except it’s got a cripplingly slow Intel GPU…and you can’t change it; it’s built in (thanks to the restrictions of its amazingly small “form factor,” er, size). So, not much good for gaming and prolly not much good for video production either. But perfect for most everything else. It’s got enough storage room for me to rewrite Gibbon’s “Fall of the Roman Empire” and still have enough room left over for my graphic-novelization of David Foster Wallace’s “Infinite Guest.” Er, “Jest.”

It performs very well, so far. I have no critique to mention. I use it for different general and simple tasks. I did not use the keyboard that came with it, but kept my old HP.

Ca fait la job vraiment satisfait rapport qualite/prix/simplicite

This is the first computer I’ve ever bought online, as opposed to from a physical store. I’m glad I took a chance on it though.
It’s a replacement to a much older HP desktop (AMD) originally built with Windows 7 (10 added later).
Anyway, it’s been terrific so far. At only 11.5″ tall and 3.75″ wide it’s very compact. It’s also really quiet; I’d never know it was even on. It’s faster than my older unit, and was easy to get up and running. It also boots up, and awakens from sleep quicker than the old computer. The only initial issue was that it “appears” to have once had a DVD-drive….but if it did, it was removed in the refurbishing process. I ended up buying one after the fact, so now it uses an external drive.
Windows 10 will lose support next year, but for the time being I’m not too worried about that.
