I love the nighthawk brand and me moving from a Motorola arris surfboard 3.0 to this was because it was the 3.1 and I just upgraded my nighthawk router to the mesh WiFi by nighthawk. Now my internet plan is 1gb and after research the arris modem only handles speeds up to 1gb but this modem handles up to 10gb speeds so Iโm basically future proofing my home if my provider ever gets fiber optic or increase the plan past 1gb, this offers no WiFi but that is what I wanted since I have a WiFi mesh system to run the cable from the modem. There are newer models than this that offer WiFi 7 in the modem but for me this was the right fit and price range for a brand I love

I purchased this as it has 4 WAN Ethernet connections; but you are not able to use more than one, unless you purchase another ip address from your internet provider. I would not have purchased this if I knew this is more for a business application with multiple ip addresses. Otherwise the cable modem works great. I connect to our router which has 4 ethernet cables in use plus the wifi from the router and most everything works really well. We usually have 9 devices receiving signal most of the afternoon and evening. Sometimes a couple more. Downloads are speedy; no buffering on our Roku; almost always a strong signal from the router. Hard wire downloads to my pc are at our max speed from our ISP. NetGear makes quality products. I am happy. I have used 3 or 4 NetGear modem router setups over the years and always been satisfied with the performance.

Have had issues from day one. Have to constantly reboot modem. Called xfinity because my wife works from home and a program she uses their tech support said th signal coming in was not constant. So we had Xfinity come out. He ran new cable from pole to house. And from outside house to inside to the modem. He then said I was getting a clear signal and getting 2gbps. He checked the modem and said it was the problem.
I contact amazon and they said called Netgear. I call netgear and they say call amazon or the reseller. This is BS! I bought it used, my mistake. I will NEVER buy anything from Amazon or A SHADY RESELLER. I WANT MY MONEY BACK! THIS SHOULD HAVE A WARRANTY. AND NOT ONE I HAVE TO PAY FOR!
Oh and this claims to have 2gbps. It is only 2 gbps if you somehow have 2 lines coming in and some odd setup that no ISP will do or is probably only heard of in business class internet!

Was delighted to find renewed unit sold at less than half the retail price (which is high because the CM1150 is the only Xfinity approved “customer owned” modem offering phone VOIP as well.
Using Xfinity phone app, I was able to set up and activate this modem quite easily. My phone service worked and I measure internet service at 800mb/s… per my Xfinity plan. I streamed a movie that night.. No sweat. I was about to take my original Xfinity Gateway back to the store when suddenly I noticed internet was struggling. eg. my wife was on zoom chat that was halting. I was using google translate and it was taking a minute to do simple translations. Within 2 hours, all internet was dead. Phone stopped working too.
I unplugged the CM1150. Put outside to quickly cool. All to no avail. Re-starting failed to get any functionality back.
I then re-activated my Xfinity gateway box. (BTW: That cannot be fully completed using Xfinity App. Phone worked, but internet data was inoperable. That’s because special “codes” at their office must be reset before Xfinity will deliver broadband data to that original Gateway modem. Only a live chat session or getting an agent on the phone can get this done). Once up and running, the Xfinity gateway was working normally and reliably.
I’m going to hazard a guess. This COULD be an issue of marginal signal strength over the Comcast cable. I am skeptical anything actually broke in the Netgear CM1150. I’ve had the Xfinity gateway for 2 years and internet loss was only very occasional. My hunch is that the Xfinity equipment may work better as depleted signal levels. I’ll probably hold onto the Netgear modem and re-try it in a month- would prefer not to pay the $15/mo rent.
UPDATE (2.21.2024)
I’ve been monitoring signal levels in the Xfinity connection status. The signal strength in my family room location is lousy… varying between -15 dBmV and -10 dBmV depending on day, time of day.,etc.
I built up a location to place the cable modem very close to my home’s Xfinity cable ingress & powered distribution box in my basement, running CAT5 + Phone wire to first floor wall jacks for router & phone base. The Xfinity Gateway experienced 3 – 4X higher downstream signals at the basement location compare to distant family room.
Then reinstalled & activated the Netgear CM1150 . Everything came up working within minutes. With just 3 feet 75 ohm coax to the CM1150 from Comcast powered splitter, signal levels between -3 and +1 dBmV are reported by the CM. That’s plenty of margin to deal with daily variations that will be in 5 dBmV range. Feeling confident I can dispense with the Xfinity equipment and rely on the Netgear CM.
Revising my rating to 5*. Very pleased!

Works great. Supports operator speeds up to at least 1 Gbps Down. Includes the eDVA for POTS. I connect this to my external Netgear WiFi Router, via a Gigabit Ethernet connection. Performance is great.

It works SO WELL. I struggled to set up the new modem with a new mesh system, but tech support was sooo good. They solved my problem immediately.
And the speed upgrade is wild. I am getting much faster up and down speeds with my new modem & the nighthawk mesh network. Internet works amazing in all corners of the house and outdoors. Can’t say enough good about it. A legit upgrade worth the investment in my house.

Xfinity sent me an email saying they upgraded my internet speed (from 200 mbps to 500+ mbps) at no charge but my current docsis 3.0 modem couldnโt handle that speed. I have a netgear router that can handle that speed and a netgear extender for the back of the house that can also handle that speed.
This refurbished router is more than 50% cheaper than new and so I decided to give it a try.
Once received, 1) I disconnected old modem (coax cable, power plug, Ethernet cable to router) and connected this one and the same manner. 2) on Xfinity app, I chose activate Xfinity gateway or modem, then clicked own modem. 3) I put the MAC address at the bottom of the modem. 4) took about 5 minutes for Xfinity to activate it. I then restarted the modem and router. Presto. Tested the speed and download is consistently over 560 mbps.
Great deal and easy to install and activate!
