The media could not be loaded.

    For $320, I couldn’t pass this up.
Undervolt in the bios – runs cool and fast.
Windows scheduling issues a thing of the past.
    Ram runs 6000MT no problem
I do notice a nice bump using Xbox Game Bar and setting “remember this game” for the games I use, and they favor the V-cache cores and do it well, and leave the non-V cores to background tasks.
-30mv in bois max temp 85c setting – works great. All cores over 5.2 and a few 5.5-5.6 – not a bad CPU at all. Moved up from 5950X (more cores but slower) and move the 5950X to a server box that will use all the cores/threads. The 12/24 on this works more than fine on my main workstation.

This performs VERY WELL, I have an aio pump on it so it doesn’t get very hot so the heat levels stay at around 45°c and 75°c gaming. Well worth the cash I put into it. The stability is icredivlr and doesn’t consume a lot of power the memory is awesome too. Get this!

Alright, I know the Ryzen 9 7900X3D gets some hate online, but hear me out—this CPU is a beast. It’s got 12 cores, 24 threads, and a massive 144MB of cache. The extra L3 cache with 3D V-Cache is a game-changer for gaming and multi-core tasks. It offers better versatility than the 7800X3D. You get great gaming performance, but it also crushes it in productivity tasks, thanks to those extra cores.

Yes, it runs a bit hot, and you’ll need a good cooler, but the performance gains are worth it. The 7800X3D is great purely for gaming, but if you want a bit more flexibility and a CPU that can handle everything, the 7900X3D is a better bet. Plus, you get more future-proofing with that extra power!

    Pros:

    • Incredible gaming performance with 3D V-Cache.
    • More cores and threads than the 7800X3D for better multitasking.
    • Efficient power usage for a high-end CPU.

    Cons:

    • Can run hot; needs a good cooling setup.
    • Pricey compared to pure gaming-focused CPUs.

If you want a CPU that does it all and aren’t afraid to invest in some cooling, the 7900X3D is worth every penny!

If you can find a deal on it, it is a wonderful gaming/productivity CPU. It is not as fast as the 7800X3D when gaming, as only 6 of the cores have the 3D cache. The other 6 cores are the standard Zen 4 cores with non-3D cache.

Be sure to update your AMD chipset drivers, and set your power plan in Windows 11 to “balanced” to get the best use of the gaming cores.

This is a surprisingly great chip if you get it for the correct price. Wait for it to be on sale and you won’t be sorry!

This CPU gets no love, but it’s a beast. Runs cool (with my AIO) while gaming at 1440 or editing massive, layered photos. If u do more than gaming, this CPU is a gr8 option! The $95 CoolerMaster AIO is a perfect complement to the CPU in white or black.

The initial knock on it was it’s $599 price tag. I got mine for $328 a couple weeks ago.

This CPU is great. It works flawlessly with my 4090 but I wish I had waited for the 7800X3D instead.

AMD has opted on using a dual chiplet design architecture this generation. While the CPU has 12 cores, (6 cores on each chiplet) AMD’s new “3D V-Cache” makes the CPU park 6 of those 12 cores while gaming since the 3D V-Cache is only stacked on one chiplet.

The performance is great if you use your PC for both gaming and productivity but if you only game, you are better off getting the cheaper 7800X3D. It only has 8 cores but since it’s design architecture is one chiplet, the 3D V-Cache is on all 8 cores, none of the cores are parked and you get the full use of all 8 cores vs the use of only 6 cores with the 7900X3D

I take this as a learning experience and while I have a little buyer’s remorse, I can’t say that the 7900X3D doesn’t perform well. It’s just that the 7800X3D makes the 7900X3D inferior and for less money.

It’s highly likely that AMD delayed the release of the 7800X3D at the time so that early adopters like myself would buy the 7900X3D since one would think 7900X3D>7800X3D (bigger number better). which feels scummy but you live and you learn. AMD may hove squeezed a couple of hundred dollars out of me with this move but they made me be more critical and averse to buying their products in the future.

You want a cpu that will take everything you ask of it and then still say it can do more? This cpu is an absolute multitasking beast, nothing seems to bog it down. Pair it with some fast NVME drives and you’ll be absolutely amazed at how fast everything just works.
