It works pretty good actually I wish that it was smaller itโs size is kind of prohibitive for tucking in a backpack, a pocket or a purse. I found that this read more accurately on the temporal artery which is the space right above where most people wear their eyeglasses at your temple you can actually feel the pulse there and then you know you are exactly in the right place. However the forehead read just fine about 1/10 of a degree lower. As a wound care nurse of almost 30 years experience We used to check the bottoms of diabetics feet with laser thermometers that were actually designed for industrial use they were quite expensive and none of us could afford to carry them around but they were quite effective at finding hot spots & potential problems. Remember that a forehead temperature is going to read 1/2 to 1ยฐ lower than an oral temperature reading. The instructions were quite clear and easy to read and understand with very large pictures. I highly recommend that you read them entirely before trying do you use the thermometer and that you follow the directions exactly as written.

I don’t have confidence that the reading is consistently accurate, and the problem with this type of device is that it invariably reads 1 to 1.5 degrees lower than a typical oral thermometer. So I guess 95.7 is (or isn’t) about 98.6. It’s easy to use, and I’ll be keeping it to see if I can overcome the deficiency and make the convenience and speed of reading work for me.

I’m legally blind. I’ve tried sublingual thermometers, both digital, and analogue (old school), and they’re next to impossible for a person with low vision to use. By the time you get magnifier over them, they’ve adapted to the room’s temperature. LOL. This product has big, easy to see numbers, and a bright, red, or green backlight. Nothing about this display looks faded, at all. It’s brilliant, and vibrant. The start, and end tones help a lot, to let you know when the temperature has been taken. By the way, I tested mine on a room wall, and then went to the thermostat, and noted it’s temperature was fairly close to what I got from the thermometer. Then, I checked with my forehead, and got a good reading. It’s very fast, and once the temperature has been taken, it stops sensing, so what you see, is the exact snapshot of what it measured.
Although the manual was a bit vague, the unit is fairly easy to use.
By the way, I couldn’t help but notice how much this thermometer resembles an hand phaser from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Even the model number has “1701” in it. LOL Very cool.
It also came with two triple A batteries.

Was looking for a reliable, accurate thermometer that had good reviews and made by a reputable company that stands by their product.
I found it.
First, the price was decent and quite comparable to many others. But the big difference was that the others came with a lot less people reviewing the product, and purchasing at a lower price as well. Plus the others had a higher negative rating/reviews.
The product arrived quickly. Was very simple to use. You put the batteries in, I waited 30 mins. as it came from being outside from the delivery so the thermometer could adjust to room temp. and you hold it to your forehead and push the button and Boom! Done.
It seems durable and constructed well and was most importantly accurate with the temps based on my use of other digital mouth thermometers in the house as well as compared to the thermostat for room temperature. Has a decent warranty as well. Now Iโve only had it a week so we shall see if anything I mentioned should change over time.
