Animal Essentials Comfort Plus Calming Drops for Pets

I’m all about natural remedies for myself, husband and fur babies wherever possible, and I’m a HUGE FAN of this company’s Tinkle Tonic for our cats’ urinary health. It’s magical. We have 5 cats right now, two are prone to urinary issues… One of our previous cats had major issues stemming from bladder stones and it helped so much!

I wanted to share that in context to this review by how much I trust this company’s products. And in relation to the two that have urinary issues, on occasion accidents are caused from stress from other cats and pent up energy. One of them is so subservient he lets the others play and stays out of the fun, watching from the sidelines – we have our one-on-one playtime but it doesn’t last very long before another jumps in and he relegates himself to watch instead. He’s my sensitive boy that has to be with me at all times.

We also have some stress with a newer kitty that joined the family when her human passed away. Four out of the 5 are all about a year and a half old at this point, and she’s been with us about 6 months and can generally hold her own but she gets stressed from how rambunctious the boys are, specifically one of them.

Lastly, we have an 18 year old kitty that prefers to nap and stay out of the path of teaser and toy destruction. He’s really mellow, and gets along with three out if the four just fine individually… But every so often he gets overwhelmed by them. The same one that is too much for our girl is too much for him all the time.

This is where Comfort Plus comes in… I put it in their wet food in the morning and evening meals, and it does seem to help in conjunction with a product that plugs in an outlet that starts with an F. I’ve always had that going spaced around the house for stress and I can tell when I need to swap out the refills by some of their behavior. With this in their food too, the aggression and accidents aren’t nearly as bad! I consider that a big win! The plug-in stuff is expensive and being able to space out refills longer is appreciated. As they get older they’ll mellow out but until then, we have a houseful of full-grown kittens that are nuts… It’s wonderful but it does come with challenges as any seasoned multi-cat parent can attest to. In total, we’ve had 9 cats since 1997.

I can tell the cats can taste it in their food, so I think the flavor may be a little strong. Especially because I feed them high-end fishy pate, topped with Tiki Cat fish that look like I opened a can of sardines for myself. So with a flavor they notice over those strong fishy ones, it could be too much for picky eaters.

Give it a shot, with mild stress it may be all you need! My household is too crazy to use it alone at this point, but in a few years I’m looking forward to stepping back to just this (along with Tinkle Tonic).

Somehow I ended up adopting both a dog and cat with anxiety issues. My cat is a picky eater, so I knew there was 0% chance I’d get a liquid down her or hidden in food. I really got this product to try on my dog. He is a mildly picky eater and will eat this if hidden in his food. I tried a drop myself and it doesn’t taste bad.

At first, I was hoping to use this as needed for situations I knew he’d be nervous about like vacuuming, running the soy milk machine, blender, etc but being a liquid, I found it difficult to always have to get a piece of bread or something I could put the liquid on. Putting it directly in his mouth I think would’ve caused the anxiety I’m trying to prevent so I never tried that. It wasn’t working just giving it to him here and there anyway, so I figured I’d try giving it to him twice a day, everyday. It has been about 2 weeks now and unfortunately, I haven’t noticed any difference.

I saw another reviewer said it seemed to increase their pet’s anxiety. Since starting this, there have been 2 occasions where I noticed my dog just sitting and shaking for apparently no reason. I haven’t seen him do that before and will keep and eye on that. If it continues, I’ll discontinue this product and update my review. Otherwise, it seems like it has potential, so I’ll keep trying. Maybe it just takes longer.

UPDATE: I continued using this product on my dog until the bottle was gone and did not notice any difference with his general anxiety. He did not exhibit any shaking since the previous 2 times noted. I don’t think the shaking was related to this product.
