No Monkey Business –
Light went off just a little over a month after I got it. Realized nothing plugged in was connecting to my PC. It stopped getting power completely. I unplugged the end from the 11 in 1 unit and when I plugged it back in huge sparks came out. I’m lucky it didn’t fry and of the ports that were connected to my PC. Moved and tried on different outlets around the house, still doesn’t work. TRASH! Just past being able to return on amazon and now I have to deal with their customer service and hope for the best. Do yourself a favor and buy from someone else.

I have just a few USB items connected to my laptop – keyboard+mouse, camera and a speakerphone. But I frequently had either the camera or speakerphone crash during calls. Moving these items to the powered hub has resolved the issues and my system has become much more stable.

I obviously have too many periferals running through my laptop. But this fits the bill very nicely. With 4 usbc and 4 usba, with a 10gb port (usba) and a pd port (usbc) this is a feature rich hub. I’ve got another 4 usba port hub that I put slower peripherals in, and a dock with 4 usba and 2 usbc’s. This hub has the fastest data transfer rate for me. Nice. I have really come to like the Anker line of products.

This is a review of “Anker USB-C Hub, 8-in-1 5Gbps Data Hub, USB Splitter, with 3 USB-A and 4 USB-C Ports, 100W USB-C PD-in, 2-in-1 USB Connector, for USB-A and USB-C Laptop, MacBook, iPad and More (45W Adapter Included)”, a USB hub.
First off, this hub has a good number of ports with a mixture of USB-A and USB-C ports … making it a nice device for those of use with laptops that have only a couple of USB-C ports and nothing else (it can also hook up via USB-A if necessary). The ports work more or less as you’d expect, with one major downside I’ll mention later. There is a power adapter that powers the USB ports on the top of the hub so that you can hook up devices that want to charge without draining your laptop. There is also a power-in port where you can plug in a USB-C fast charger that will charge your laptop through the hub.
Here’s where I think the device can be improved. It’s basically the size of and needs to be plugged in just like a docking station … but it doesn’t have any way to either charge your laptop (without yet another adapter) or let it output video.
Since the USB-C ports don’t support video output, if you hook this up to something like a tablet you’re not going to be able to display to an external monitor at all and you’ll also need to plug in a second charger to charge the tablet through this hub, since it can’t charge the device it’s being the hub for without an inconvenient second power adapter to hook to the hub. -even if it’s a lower-powered device.
So I see this device as being useful in an office/home office situation where you just needed to add several more ports to your PC or Mac and you have enough power outlets around your computer to have yet another “wall wart” power adapter plugged in. I don’t think this hub is one you’d want to travel with – it’s too big and you also need the power adapter. I also don’t see this hub as useful for a tablet or a single-port laptop – it’s too limited for either of those two by the lack of charging ability with the included adapter and lack of any video support for an external display.
So, recommended for a desk where you have plenty of room, but not recommended for travel use or tablets.
