Absolutely awesome. You can buy replacement charcoal filters, using your own debris and floss setup or use your own media as there is plenty of room inside the housing.
Currently supporting three very difficult to raise and keep alive discus and the water parameters are perfect.
Do your EOD or weekly test to ensure parameters are all set and weekly or bi monthly partial water changes and you will be the happiest aquarist and not have to spend a ton on canister setups.
I have canisters in my larger 75/90 and 125/180s bit for 60 gallon cubes or breeder and under 55 gallons these are amazing especially for the price.
Works great for 40/60 gallon breeders, 55s, 40s, 29s etc. lots of filtration with amazing water flow and its screened so you won’t lose your fry or small fish like golden cloud minnows

Everything works fine but the only thing that makes me unhappy is in my package I received two different aqeon coupons and they expired over a year ago. Lol why even send them to me if I can’t use them. I just went to the fish store today and purchased the very products I could’ve used them on. Oh well it’s not a big deal as everything else works fine. Just can’t wrap my head around the point of sending expired coupons.

This filter works very well. The water quality has improved for my 20 gallon long tank since installation. It really moves the water a lot better than I had hoped. It also doesn’t bother the fry. The noise level is quite loud, however. It’s not that offensive but I can see how it would drive other people crazy. I keep it in my bedroom and the splashing sound you get used to it. It’s pretty relaxing actually. Definitely worth the buy.

Finally bought a larger pump, after my last TWO (smaller units) burned out!!! Bought this in August….. It is now december and the motor is going, it barely pumps water. I clean my tank and pump every 2 weeks. And keep the water level up. No reason this should be dying already. Very disappointed in aqueon products.

Delivered to incorrect address, which is not seller’s fault but set the tone. Filter was missing parts (the suck up tube) but I harvested from previous filter… which is the exact same one and stopped working out of the blue which is also frustrating me about this brand. This particular filter…I installed, all was going well, went about my day, came back upstairs several hours later and 3-4 inches of water had been drained out of my tank, thru the back of the filter, ALL OVER MY FLOOR. I contact Amazon for replacement (they did nothing about the mis-delivery, I had to go through my neighborhood to find it myself)… the first delivery was an overnight. The replacement is a 2 day. All aggravating. Especially to my fish who swim in their own 💩.

don’t know why people was crying about noise. yes it makes a noise when u first hook it up cause the water needs to go through, but after that its gone and slient….. nothing is wrong with this and if there is send it back , must of been a bad one

I replaced an identical one that was three yrs old that was never a problem it’s the reason I bought another. The replacement however is the same, except the noise Is bad
