We’ve had this tank set up for just over a month now, and so far so good. The filter is dead silent, and the light is steady and bright. And our “rescue fish” seems %1000 percent happier in this tank than the silly little bowl my daughter received him in. We’ve added a live plant and some marino moss balls and the tank has really come to life.

We have a 3 year old goldfish who has been in a 2 gallon container with an air stone, we’ve wanted to upgrade to a tank for a while now but were a little intimidated by the barrage of choices and suggested “necessities” so this was a good way for us to start. The tank arrived in good shape and we have had no problems with it, fish seems very happy with his larger space. The filter also seemed to work perfectly, not too loud, but we replaced it a couple weeks ago because it seemed unable to process the amount of filth a goldfish puts out. If we had a different fish, like tetras or a beta I’m sure it would have been fine. As it was filter cartridges were only lasting 2-3 days. I also had to buy a timer to plug the lights into, otherwise our poor fish was either getting no light or too much light every day. If I could go back in time I think I’d still have purchased this, it was a good deal and it’s been a good educational process. Just wish they’d built in a timer for the lights.

I love this tank so far and so does my son’s batta. I can tell he’s happier in the bigger tank with water that moves and is filtered. The fish is more active and has brighter color.
I read a lot of reviews about their fish getting pulled into the filter so i placed a plant so the intake is in the middle of the plant, just in case.
The tank was easy to set up. Its nearly silent and seems to be working great!
Overall, im happy with it, especially for the price.

(3 DAYS AFTER THE MOVE, HE BUILT A FINE BUBBLE NEST TO SHOW ME HE WAS COMFORTABLE!)

ALSO, BETTAS NEED STILL WATER. THANKFULLY, THIS FILTER DOES NOT HAVE A LOT OF SUCTION…SO I HAVENT FOUND SKIPPER SUCKED TO IT.

I did a lot of research on fish tanks! I am a beginner and there seemed to be so many pros and cons on every betta tank I found. I wanted a reasonably priced white tank. This one was perfect except all of the many complaints about the pump being too strong. I purchased the fluval pre filter sponge that a previous customer recommended. ( if you don’t know what that is it’s a $2 part that attaches to the slender cylinder portion of the pump/filter. It has only one side opening that goes on like a sleeve. The bottom is therefore covered and allows water to be sucked up only, keeping fins safe.) I bought two, one for each of my daughters. The first thing I did was watch them swim near the filter and they were totally fine! One pump/filter seems to run louder and I’m not sure what I’ve done differently. I’m comparing water levels, etc to see if I can determine the problem. It’s not really loud, but just louder than the other one. Our little bettas were SO happy to get out of the small 1/2 gallon bowls we had them in temporarily. It is really nice to see them actually SWIM! The light is nice and bright too and creates such a nice ambience in the room, day and night. I added a heater and thermometer. My daughters and I are very happy! I will update if there are any negatives I find, but we are happy to be a fish family 🙂 I have not been paid for this review. I just did so much research that I wanted to help any others in need of feedback!!!

We purchased the 2.5 gal tank for an aquatic frog. It’s compact, which was exactly what we were looking for. As it’s plastic, it’s easier to lift and clean than the larger & heavier 5 gallon glass tank we had.
We haven’t had difficulty with scratching at all.
The pump starting make a disconcerting, high pitched, squealing/gurgling noise of death about a month ago. I have searched unsuccessfully for a replacement, so I finally called customer service. A real, live person answered the phone immediately (I thought I must’ve misdialed) and transferred me to their tech department where another real, live person answered the phone. She was very knowledgeable and personable.
She recommended that the water level has to stay up above the little pipe inlet thingy (she knew the technical term, I can’t recall it) so it covers the motor. Look at the picture in the listing, find the top fish. Draw a line in your mind from the bottom of his butt over to the left. That’s where the water level has to be to function.
She also recommended that one replaces the filter every 4 to 6 weeks and stated that if the water is flowing mostly over and not through the filter to change it. If it’s a new filter and it’s doing the same, squish it around between your hands to break it up a bit (the fibers are too tight sometimes on new filters).
It’s a relatively inexpensive little tank that has served us well. And their customer service was just fantastic!
