Very pleased with this product. Plugged it in and it worked – no problem. I like the way the cable recesses into the DVD player itself. The cable is quite short but I work from a laptop in the armchair, so it does sit nicely on the arm of the chair.

Bought this to replace a Gotega External CD Drive that quit working after ripping a few CD’s. This one worked great and ripped over 250 CD’s. Also works with Windows 11 that the Gotega didn’t. Luckily, I had an old laptop when I was using the Gotega for the few it worked on. This one ripped discs the other one wouldn’t even read. Highly recommend it! Side Note; It ripped discs much faster than the other one.

Bought 2 different DVD players, one is DVD BR player recorder, the other THIS piece of crap. Used it a few times seemed to be OK. Tried to use it to copy a 32bit GhostRecon (yes I am OLD SCHOOL). fractured and spit out part of the CD and destroyed it self. blew out front piece. Thanks ASUS.

Using EAC for ripping a collection of CDs. It’s pretty fast has both read and write and does what a cd drive needs to do in the modern age where drives are going extinct. For the price, you get a fast read and write drive that works with usb-c while being compact and quiet, a good value if I say. Overall it’s of great quality and does what I need it to do, which is burning and ripping CDs.

Device was instantly recognized on my Dell XPS laptop using Windows 11 Pro. No complex install procedure. Easily read and copied files form laptop to device and back. ASUS provided software is on the included install disk. I did not need it and so cannot rate the software. Simple device, easy to install, has a cable tuck corner to hide cable when not in use. Perfect size for tossing in your travel back.

The drive seems to work well and has a nice design, but ASUS doesn’t advertise the fact that it does not work out of the box for anyone with an M1 chip Mac or later unless you manually update the disc drive. Unfortunately, the only way to do that is by plugging the drive into a Windows PC, as the update is an .exe. Instantly worked after I ran the update .exe on my second computer.

Bought a new laptop (LG Gram 17 inch 2022 32RAM 2TB) and I wanted to buy an external disc reader/writer for my library of well-preserved physical Rosetta Stone collections I’ve bought over the years. This worked perfectly for my needs. It works with Windows 11, is nice and compact, and stays in place very well.
It doesn’t move at all when switching out discs during installs.
Easy to re-package and store safely in its original box until needed.
I don’t use it for anything other than what I explained above. However, if I did need it for any other purpose I’m confident it will complete the task. Price not too bad. Nice looking design, I like that the cord can store away, because as I said, I don’t have it out except when I need to use it for a specific purpose.
Very satisfied. Another quality ASUS product.
