These strings did what I needed them to do – make my Squier Bass VI sound more like a bass. Keeps good tune, even with the floating bridge. Good clear low tone, bright mids. Almost makes the chords sound good.

I was kind of scared at first, because flat wounds would hurt until you break them in. They feel broken in and natural out of the package, no pain and they even slap really nice for flat wounds. I’m surprised, labella makes better strings for this than fender. These are by far the most comfortable and easy strings I’ve had. I didn’t even have to adjust the action after stringing it up. These aren’t too expensive either. Definitely pro grade.

I had my squire bass vi upgraded with the staytrem bridge and put these on. Stays in tune and sounds like a million bucks. I can’t imagine getting a different set or style of strings for the vi.

in response to Andrea from the UK. if you are having intonation problems across many strings and they feel soft, it isn’t a strings problem. your setup is not right. Most often when I see these problems with new strings, especially if the new strings are thicker, it is because the action is too high. if they feel soft across all frets, the nut might need to be filed to fit the strings better. if it is a problem on many frets but not the first, the truss rod might need adjusting. if it is only the frets nearer the bridge, (say from 5th or 7th down) then the bridge needs to be lowered. I saw one case where a neck was replaced by the owner, and there was enough sawdust in the joint that the neck didn’t sit perfectly flat. had to take off the neck, sand both the neck and neckjoint in the body and reassemble. I also have had many guitars especially basses where the nut was only filed the minimum, little more than a scratch in the bone. in such cases, unless you really know what you are doing, have a pro setup your guitar. don;’t blame the best strings on the market.

I accidentally purchased these for a regular six string bass.
They didn’t work. I love deep talking bass strings, but these are only for the small six string fender bass.
The ball ends are too small for a regular bass and the strings pop of will tightening.
It was my mistake for not reading carefully enough, but hopefully my review will save done other person from the disappointment of getting these strings and having them be a complete fail.
To the vendor, perhaps you could highlight they limitation of these strings more clearly on the posting.

Best my Squire Bass VI has sounded, much fuller and richer tone than the standard Fender strings that came with it, was hoping to get less clanking on the fretboard and it has in part delivered. Next up I need to buy a Staytrem Bridge to complete the sound and get the action it deserves.

I ordered these to breathe new life into my Squier Bass VI– the factory strings are too small and flop around, leading to a dead tone. I am extremely impressed by these strings: perfectly balanced tension, great sound. However, what really impressed me was La Bella’s customer service. The set initially came with a defective low E– too short so the the winding ended just before the nut. Chicago Music Exchange put me in touch with La Bella, and they replied within minutes by email. The sent me a new string free of charge (and a really cool sticker to boot!) This company is a pleasure to do business with, and will be my go-to for bass strings from now on.

These are the perfect strings to achieve the classic sound of a Fender (or Squier) Bass VI.
If you’re familiar with how flatwounds sound and play on a long scale 4/5 string, you’ll be pleased at how well this works on your Bass VI; if you’ve not used flats before, you may well want to try them on your other basses after this.
Being made specifically for the Bass VI, these strings are exactly the right length, and the silk ends fit the narrow, strat-style machine heads perfectly.
However, the thing which will really wow you is the tensioning. You can have the action set very low, without the low E turning into cooked spagetti, even at 95 gauge, and while achieving a good speed across the whole fretboard, with minimal clicks or buzzes.
[Many Bass VI owners, sticking with the stock, roundwound strings, will have tried to move up to a 100, even a 105 for the low E, to try to cure the flappiness, but it unbalances the tone.]
Yes, they are expensive, but they’ll last so much longer than roundwounds. If you love your Bass VI, want that authentic tone, and are prepared also to invest the time or money in a proper set-up, these are the strings for you.

Originally ordered the flats but they never arrived. I was considering reordering them but couldn’t because they were unavailable. Amazon did give me a refund so I decided to try the round wounds which sound good.
