Beats Solo Buds Wireless Earbuds, Transparent Red Description
Beats Solo Buds Transparent Red: Small Earbuds, Big Battery Life
The Beats Solo Buds strip earbuds back to basics. There’s no charging case with a battery, no noise cancellation, and no app to fuss with. Instead, you get a simple pair of earbuds that plays music for up to 18 hours on one charge.
In Transparent Red, the earbuds show off their internal components through a clear shell. It’s a fun, youthful look that stands out from the usual matte black or white earbuds on the market.
Below, we break down what the Beats Solo Buds actually offer, who they suit, and what to check before you buy.
A Compact, No-Fuss Design
Each earbud weighs just 5.7 g. The carry case adds another 22 g, so the whole kit comes in under 34 g. That makes the Solo Buds one of the lightest true wireless options you can buy.
The earbuds use a wingless, half-in-ear design. Four eartip sizes come in the box — XS, S, M and L — so most ear shapes get a secure fit. A single multi-function button sits on each earbud for music, calls and voice assistant control.
Here’s the important part for comparison shopping: the carry case does not charge the earbuds. It’s a protective case only. You charge each earbud directly through its own USB-C port. Shoppers used to AirPods-style charging cases should note this difference before they buy.
Battery Life That Skips the Charging Anxiety
The headline feature is battery life, and it earns the attention. Each earbud runs for up to 18 hours of playback on a single charge — well above most competing true wireless earbuds.
Need a quick boost? Beats’ Fast Fuel feature gives you up to 1 hour of playback from just 5 minutes of charging. A short lunch-break charge covers an entire afternoon of listening.
Because there’s no charging case battery to manage, the Solo Buds avoid a common frustration: a dead case that leaves both earbuds stranded. You simply plug each earbud into USB-C when it runs low.
Sound and Calls
The Solo Buds use dual-layer transducers tuned for balanced, punchy sound. They’re built for everyday listening — podcasts, calls and casual music — rather than audiophile detail.
For calls, custom microphones pair with a noise-learning algorithm that adapts to your surroundings. As a result, your voice stays clearer even in windy or noisy environments.
There’s no active noise cancellation here. If you need to block out a commute or an open-plan office, a different Beats or Apple model will serve you better.
Setup and Everyday Use
The Beats Solo Buds connect over Bluetooth 5.3. Class 1 range extends the usable distance between your earbuds and your phone. One-touch pairing works out of the box on both iOS and Android — no app download required.
iPhone owners get Find My support; Android owners get Find My Device support. Therefore, misplacing an earbud doesn’t mean losing it for good.
The single button per earbud handles play, pause, skip, calls and your voice assistant. It’s a simple control scheme that most people learn in minutes.
Who Should Buy the Beats Solo Buds?
Buy them if you want long battery life without thinking about a charging case. They also suit anyone who prefers a light, low-fuss pair of earbuds, or who likes the playful look of the Transparent Red finish.
Consider something else if you need active noise cancellation, a charging case for backup power on the go, or studio-grade sound detail.
For everyday listening on a budget, the Beats Solo Buds in Transparent Red are a genuinely easy recommendation. Use Discompare to compare live prices from verified merchants. Check the price history, and set a price alert so you buy at the right moment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Beats Solo Buds case charge the earbuds?
No. The carry case is a protective case only — it does not hold a battery or recharge the earbuds. You charge each earbud individually through its own USB-C port.
How long does the battery last?
Each earbud plays for up to 18 hours on a full charge. Beats’ Fast Fuel feature adds up to 1 hour of playback from a 5-minute charge, so a quick top-up covers most of a day.
What colors does the Beats Solo Buds come in?
The Solo Buds are available in Matte Black, Storm Gray, Arctic Purple and Transparent Red. The Transparent Red version has a clear shell that shows the internal components.
Do the Beats Solo Buds have noise cancellation?
No. The Solo Buds skip active noise cancellation to help keep the price low and the battery life high. Shoppers who need ANC should look at the Beats Solo 4 or a similar model instead.
Are the Beats Solo Buds compatible with Android?
Yes. One-touch pairing works on both iOS and Android straight out of the box, with no app required. Android owners also get Find My Device support for locating a lost earbud.
What’s included in the box?
The box includes the two earbuds, a carry case, four eartip sizes (XS, S, M, L) and a warranty card. A USB-C charging cable and power adapter are sold separately.
Are the Beats Solo Buds waterproof?
Beats does not publish an official IP water-resistance rating for the Solo Buds. Treat them as splash-resistant at most, and avoid submerging them or wearing them for swimming.
How much do the Beats Solo Buds cost?
The Beats Solo Buds list at $79.99, though retailers regularly discount them. Compare current offers on Discompare to see today’s best price across verified merchants.

Beverly J. Diperna –
They’re not really comfortable they’re kind of hard to get in and they don’t have the sound that the Apple did sorry or that my beats headphones have.
Tyler Wagner –
For the price I want expecting anything great but these feel very short of that. Sound quality is not super great, the mids and highs are all you hear so they sound ok for an audio book but not great with music. The battery life is what you expect. But only a month after buying them they will only auto connect to my phone when I pulled them out of the case about 25% of the time the rest of the time I have to go into settings and manually connect them. And now they’ve gotten to where when I get it to say they’re connected, it makes the chime in the earbud like it is but zero sound or anything comes through either of the earbuds and I’m at the point where I have to go through customer support center to try to do something with it what a pain.

First impressions on receiving: box, packaging and design definitely on the cheaper side. Seemed borderline fake to me. The actual product inside seems nice, fairly light and small but not too light as to feel unreliable. There is no indicator light anywhere on the case that would give a clue about the status of the pairing, battery etc. Pairing supposed to work simply by opening the lid near your phone. Nothing happened when I opened it (other than a low level sound effect coming from the case. I did charge it, so that should not be the problem.) Then I tried pairing manually but the device does not show up anywhere among the paired devices or list of devices available to pair. Then I tried following the instructions on their dedicated product page. For Android it says that one should download the Beats App from the Play store. And so I did, but this specific model, SOLO BUDS, is not listed as an available product to pair. I’m giving up and sending it back.
My Public Unique Name –
They look great, fit great & come with the extra sizes to fit anyone. Great quality sound and hold a charge way longer than my AirPods.
Rudy –
Arrived on time, easy to setup on iPhone, iPad and AppleTv. For me sound quality is pretty good for reasonably priced ear buds.
Allison –
hey, if you’re worried about buying AirPods for your kids or you just lose AirPods, they’re the best alternative they fit in with your Apple ecosystem. You can track them and beep them just like you came with. They’re great budget alternative I lose my AirPods all the time so I bought these guys I saw them on YouTube, they actually work really well 1010 I lost a par already and I bought a replacement and then I gave the red pair that I bought for my dad also the red ones they kinda look like the Nintendo 64 with it being Translucent.
Yanis Lores –
Caught a Prime Day Special and got a good price. LOVE THEM! Earbuds are comfortable and have excellent sound quality.
Haley Willnerd –
My son kept using my beats earbuds so we bought him a set. These are compact and have great sound. Beats are worth every penny!
John Porterfield –
These are great ear buds and I use them daily for workouts. Sound quality is great, but volume could be louder. Lacking in features to control without using your phone.
Viktor S. –
The volume was very low at first but I played around with the audio settings and the hooked it up to the charger and ta-daaa! It works soo good, I just got it today
Andrew Laird –
The Beats Solo Buds fall short of expectations, offering subpar performance that doesn’t justify their price tag. I am returning these. These earbuds should be priced no higher than $50 given their significant limitations. Sound quality is the most disappointing aspect of the Solo Buds. While Beats has delivered impressive audio in some of their higher-end models, they’ve clearly cut corners here. The bass lacks depth and punch, while the mids and highs sound muddy and lack clarity. Even with Spatial Audio enabled on compatible tracks, the overall audio experience remains underwhelming.
Another major drawback is the Solo Buds’ limited functionality. Unlike many competitors in this price range, these earbuds lack active noise cancellation, transparency mode, and wear detection. The absence of these features, which are increasingly common even in budget earbuds, severely hampers their versatility and user experience.
Volume is another area where the Solo Buds struggle. Even at maximum settings, they fail to deliver sufficient loudness for many listening environments. This inadequacy is particularly noticeable in noisier settings like gyms or public transportation, where users may find themselves straining to hear their audio content.
The physical controls on the Solo Buds are also problematic. The buttons are uncomfortable to press and can cause discomfort when used frequently. This poor design choice further detracts from the overall user experience. While the Solo Buds do offer some positives, such as a compact design and decent battery life, these advantages are overshadowed by their fundamental shortcomings in sound quality and functionality.

Very poor quality build. Very cheap. Very flimsy.
On my iphone 8, I do not see a bluetooth battery bar to tell me how much is left.
The beats by dre solo does not que in with any audible notifications on battery life either.
Whats worse, is that this is not a battery case. Which is astonishing in this day and age. Meaning when you dock the headphone, no charging occurs whatsoever.
The only good thing about these, is that the clarity is ok (acceptable). And it is able to connect and then switch between using 1 or 2 ear pieces L or R at any time extremely quickly. Almost too quickly, makes me wonder if audio is playing on the second piece while its in the case, since there is no battery to disrupt the power and cause it to charge like on all the other earpieces out there.
The last pro, is that it is small, and it isn’t trying to do too much at one time. There doesn’t seem to be any sesnitive touch controls that you may trigger on accident. I like this simplicity. And the form factor is actually exceptional. It is shaped so that you can easily grasp them and plug into ear. Once in, they are very small and unassuming. You can be on a video call, and people may not notice you have an ear piece in.
I cant comment on the microphone, don’t use it.
Overall, for 80 bucks, this is a hard no. The build quality and poor overall sound quality and poor battery management are all deal breakers on their own. But put together, makes me greatly regret purchasing these.
