I measured this based on the sizing listed on the item and it ended up being too big. If this was he right size I’m sure it would work well.

Wowzers – this is fab but oh so totally useless on my moggie. Watch the video, how easy does that look when the cat is sitting quietly and compliant. Try it on your bog standard kitcat who is a wriggly worm – not so easy. Old boy had an ingrown toe nail, thought I would DIY rather than the vet – total fail. Mask is great, cat didn’t like it.

I use this for grooming my cats at home. It’s easy to put on and stays on well as long as they’re being contained. The lack of visibility seems to confuse them more than anything. They could definitely get it off if i wasn’t there to stop them pawing at it. I doubt it would be any use in a professional setting, but it works with pets that know me and aren’t particularly stressed. I use it sparingly because I don’t want them to figure out how to get it off. It’s just for when I have to groom the parts they don’t like me touching. They do cry when it’s on, but they can’t bite through it and they don’t claw as much be they can’t see. I think ultimately it’s less stressful for them to wear it than not, for both them ans me,

The description for the sizes list the neck size and weight. I ordered the medium, but the package shows size large with a big M decal. So I am not entirely sure it is the size I ordered. Here is the discription for the sizes: “Size M: Neck circumference 11-14inch, Cat weight:5.5- 11lbs. Size L: Neck circumference 11-15inch, Cat weight:Over 11lbs.”

My cat is just over 12 lbs the other is 16 lbs. They are both American short hair, smaller breeds. The nose portion of the muzzle fit fine. But the strap was long, I think it was designed for a lynx. It was about two or four inches too long. Purchased another medium from another vendor, that was a fit perfect.

I gave a 3 star despite the sizing. The muzzle appears strong and the nose portion does fit a normal sized cat. Also, the muzzle could be fixed by either cutting off the velcro, then sewing on new velcro lower down. Or adding one or two inch pleats in each side of the strap. Though most people purchasing this would expect the item to fit the intended recipient. And there may be people with cats with large heads and tiny noses/faces that this would fit.

I have a large 10 year old male orange tabby who is generally unpleasant to everyone but my husband and myself. Nevertheless, up until last year, he’s managed to power through his veterinary check-ups with only a middling amount of surliness. Then one day about a year ago, I brought my fur-boy in for his regular exam and all hell broke loose. The sounds coming from the beast were truly unnatural, indeed my children said that he sounded “like a zombie.” He scratched the veterinary technician so hard that he left a chunk of his claw in her hand and started biting everyone that tried to subdue him. We were sent to the waiting room for our safety, where his otherworldly howls could be heard by all, including an 80 pound dog who was terrified. Needless to say, the visit was a flop and we were sent home with prescription sedatives for a return visit. When we came back, with the cat on sedatives, the visit resulted in essentially the same behavior. We were sent home after another fruitless visit and I was told to give him the maximum dosage of the sedative before returning again. After sedating the cat with the maximum dose of sedatives, I returned and the cat was as ruthless as he was the previous two visit. At this point, I was pulled aside and told that I needed to consider a visiting home veterinarian. They said if I REALLY wanted, they would try one more time with my cat on sedatives. OK, I thought. I really don’t want to pay for a home visit from a veterinarian. I went home and my wheels started spinning. My cat isn’t such a jerk with me, I can clip his claws myself at home, without much trouble- so I’d do that before the next visit. If only they made muzzles for cats…. Oh, wait, they do! I ordered this muzzle for my cat and tried it on him to make sure it fit him. I was prepared for our next visit. Maximally sedated, claws clipped, and muzzle on, my cat is now able to visit the veterinarian without seriously injuring any employees or scaring any other clients. Hallelujah! I don’t have to pay for a home veterinarian to come out and attend to my cat. This cat muzzle has SERIOUSLY saved the day!
