Rather than the cheap ones that use red lights this actually tells you how much water is in your brake fluid.
A bit more expensive but worth it if you are doing a lot of car braking systems.

I never knew that there was a way to measure if your brake fluid needs to be replaced. This easy to use tool measures the moisture content of the brake fluid to determine if it is compromised. I tested this on a newer model car and the measurement came out to 0% (OK). I then tried it on an older vehicle (2001) that I do not believe has ever had the brake fluid changed and it read 4%, indicating that it needed to be replaced. I am so glad I have this information and can get it changed ASAP.
The tool requires 4 AAA batteries (included). The tool itself is simple to use. Make sure the probe is dried off. Set the mode to the correct fluid Type (DOT-3, DOT-4, DOT-5.1, etc). You can also set it to a number of specialized fluids. Once set, simply submerge the probe into the fluid and press the play button. After 10-20 seconds the readout will provide the moisture percentage, along with a symbol indicating whether it is OK, needs attention, or needs to be replaced.
No case is included with this device, which would have been nice. Otherwise, very happy with the piece of mind that this provides.

Il parait que la purge du liquide de frein doit se faire tous les deux ans, pas sûr que tout le monde en tienne compte, mais au moins avec ce testeur, on sait instantanément où on en est. Attention, le liquide de frein est très corrosif.
Ce testeur prend en charge les 3 types DOT 3, DOT 4 et DOT 5.1 , pour info “DOT “, c’est “Département of Transportation”, un sigle définit une norme attestant d’une conformité aux règles de sécurité. Chaque chiffre d’un DOT correspond à l’équivalence de la température d’ébullition du liquide de frein.Le DOT 3 a été conçu pour une utilisation avec tambour , le Le DOT 4 est le plus utilisé , et le 5.1 est plus pointu et surtout réservé aux véhicules sportif .
Super simple, on l’allume, on plonge l sonde (propre et essuyée) on appuie sur le bouton et on attend le résultat donné après une petite alarme.
Ce modèle permet éventuellement de choisir le modèle de liquide de frein utilisé pour une plus grande précision, encore faut, il le connaître … L’écran est large et rétro-éclairé et très lisible même en pleine lumière.
Il faudra prévoir 4 piles AAA. Ma bouteille DOT est neuve donc 0 % d’humidité, et ça se voit, je l’ai vite refermée. 0% pour mon liquide aussi , je m’attendais à moins bien , donc tout va bien.
