I bought this cable to connect my iPhone to my car’s entertainment system, and also to charge it while I’m driving. It replaced another third party cable that lasted about a year, that had replaced a years old apple usb cable. I loved the look and feel of this one, and the sound quality was good. The length is perfect for its purpose, and the connectivity was great too – until about three days ago when it started dropping the connection if my phone was moved even a little.
I tried several fixes and finally narrowed the problem area to a spot on the cable a few inches from the end that connects to the phone. If the cable is flexed there at all, the connection is cut. Even a slight obtuse angle is enough. I’m no expert but this seems like a case of faulty wiring to me. If it was summer I might blame it on the heat, but it’s been chilly where I live since I bought the thing.
I generally have a good experience with Belkin products, so I thought I’d get at least a couple years out of a cable from them. I even treated this one far more gently than my last car cable (which I admittedly treated a bit roughly because I didn’t expect it to last anyway). I expected a lot more from this cable, but I guess you can’t find decent ones at this price point anymore? What a shame.
