My cat, Sylvester, is a serial killer. He will kill, and usually eat, anything that moves. I’ve never had a cat before with such a strong hunting instinct! I do believe this collar cover does help deter him from completing most attempts at catching birds and squirrels, but NOTHING keeps him from continuing to hunt them! I keep him in the house during most daylight hours, but if he does go outside at that time, he has to wear this on his collar now. He doesn’t seem to mind too much. He hasn’t killed anything since he has been wearing it thankfully. He does look quite handsome in it! (This site won’t let me upload the photo for some reason.)

This is the second time I’ve purchased these. Previously, they were rounded and now are straight and just bunch up on the cat’s collar. They don’t fit quite as nicely as the previous type but they seem to do what they are intended to do – save the birds. My cat thinks she looks charming with it on – it doesn’t bother her at all. Having said that, she occasionally loses one while exploring outside. I definitely recommend these for birding cats.

It works great – stopped my little crazy cats hunting – no casualties since she started wearing it

Simply put, this collar works. Lilly-Bell the cat is so sweet, but takes her main job as farm shop mouser seriously. No luck explaining to her that birds are off limits. We have been using these collars for many months, and it has been 99% percent effective for protecting birds (the 1 bird may not have been her fault – at least that’s what Lilly-Bell said). Doesn’t seem to affect mouser productivity. We went from multiple birds per week to effectively zero. We use it with a plastic buckled collar for her safety, and about every two – three months she manages to lose the cover and collar. We usually can find the cover at night in the bushes using a flashlight – it glows. We do put little bells on it, which may be some help. I think it’s sort of trained her that birding is not productive – even when she’s lost it and we haven’t yet found the cover, she is not bird hunting. This has been a solid buy for us. We now keep a couple on hand in case we don’t immediately find the one she was wearing.

These adorable collars are perfect for inside/outside kitties. I’ve noticed a reduction in critters at the doorstep, especially birds. Our neighbor attracts a lot of birds in thir garden and and use sqirtguns to keep our kitties out, but ca t protect thier garden all the time. We’re able to spot cats in these collars and the reflective lining helps at night. Both our kitties hate wearing collars, however when they’re wearing these. They seem to walk around proud like they grew a mane overnight. I think because whenever one kitty loses thiers or its taken off. The other kitty wearing the collar seems to become the dominant cat in thier play fights.

We live on the west coast in a semi-rural area with many birds of prey around, particularly eagles and hawks. Since putting this collar on our cat we have had to rush her to the vet twice for strange wounds she acquired. We have now figured out that it is hawks sitting in our neighbours trees. We pretty sure it is the collar that makes her a target, as this never used to happen prior to two months ago when we put the collar on her. Going forward, we’re thinking indoor cat with a catio for this fur baby.

Aside from the fact that my cat looks like a circus clown, this contraption has downgraded him from a stealth bird assassin to zero kills in two years. Take that, Frank!

I am very disappointed to report that my cat caught two birds while wearing this collar. He is wearing this collar AND 2 bells and he still managed to successfully hunt.

I am still going to have him wear it though in the hopes that it will at least reduce the carnage. (And I’ve had to buy several because he frequently loses his collar.)

I can’t say it for sure keeps the birds away but it does make kitty’s head more visible to them. It looks a bit like a clown collar and is cute. It includes a glow in the dark edge and is washable. The only tiny downside is that he can’t wash himself as well as if he was just wearing a regular collar. The solution is to just take it off for part of each day.

My kitty just showed up at my door one day. She was an outdoor girl but very friendly and came inside. I tried to find a previous owner, but no luck. So I kept her.

All of my cats have always been indoor only, but she was so used to being outside that I couldn’t keep her in for very long. In the meantime, she was killing all kinds of animals. I didn’t mind the shrews, but the birds upset me. She killed something every day, even a squirell! I tried a collar with a bell but it didn’t work. When she killed a dove I was very upset and that’s when I found this collar.

She has not killed any birds since she started wearing the collar. The only thing that she has left me so far is a cicada.

I also noticed that she isn’t as desperate to go back out after she has been in and will play inside instead. I am hoping that as the birds are harder to catch she is getting less reinforcement for hunting and this will discourage her from hunting them.

First of all, this thing is so freaking cute, that for that reason alone I am going to keep it. I have a bell collar on her AND this over the bell collar and she still had a bird within minutes. It’s absolutely insane how good of a hunter she is, and it was like she was proving a point by showing us that she can be a killer, even if she looks like a clown.
We are going to keep trying this out and hoping that it at least helps a little but it was not an instant success.

I have a bengal kitten who can not resist her natural instincts. She loves chasing and catching birds, bugs, anything really. My neighbor is a bird guy and asked us to keep her inside. Instead of doing that I bought her this collar as a last resort and to my surprise, IT WORKS! she has not brought me a “gift” in a long time. She looks silly of course wearing it but definitely worth it and my neighbor has stopped complaining. That’s a win win in my book!

I thought the collar came with it because it shows it in the picture. Very misleading. $30 for a piece of fabric is ridiculous. Not happy.
