Mine I think was just a defective model. Horrible leaking from the front of the unit right when I got it, which is less than ideal in the middle of a huge heat wave. Replacing it as soon as possible with something else.

Just needed something to boost our central AC in a bedroom that is always warmer at night than the rest of the house. Even though the room is not small, it is perfect for that purpose. Donโt know if it could keep a room this big cool in hot weather throughout the day if it was doing it all on its own, and itโs not quiet. But I love some noise at night so it works for me.
Evan The Cool Guy –
This unit is okay, I’ve had it for a few days now and it’s worked for what I need but it hasn’t wow’d me. My office gets pretty hot during the day because all the electronics in use and in general the lack of central air that goes into the room. So I figured this was worth a shot and it really is a lifesaver as I used to sweat in my room and now it feels much more comfortable. I will say though that I bought the 10,000 unit one and the room is probably 150, at most 175 Square feet which this unit is supposed to cool up to 250 Square feet. My room typically was sitting around 85 degrees without the unit. And with the unit on the coldest setting the temperature in my room during the day will only reach around 73-74 degrees which is great, but it’s a little annoying that it can’t go lower than that, even when I put the unit to 65-68 degrees. This is when it’s been around 90 degrees or so outside, so I guess that is probably the biggest factor. At night I’ve seen it go to 72 but that’s the lowest.
Also the unit is louder than expecting. Nothing horrible, but when the unit is spitting out cold air you can tell because it has that typical air conditioning sound like a window unit, when it’s just blowing air through the fan and not cooling then it is not loud at all. But it is nothing unbearable, I don’t think it is loud enough to cause disturbances, but still noticeable. I wouldn’t call this unit quiet for sure.
Another thing to note is that unit claims it has 3 speeds, but mine will only do low or high, no medium. Also there really doesn’t seem much of a difference between the two speeds at all, maybe if you’re using it just as a fan you’d tell but when the machine is on low or high it seems to cool the room down in the same amount of time. As well it’s strange that the remote won’t sync with the machine if you manually change the temperature or change the speed on the unit itself. The remote will still reflect the last settings used on the remote. So if on the remote you had set the temp to 74 and then went to the unit and put 72, the unit would show 72 and the remote would stay at showing 74.
Overall its solid but not without its flaws. I would think that if someone was living somewhere extremely hot like Las Vegas or Arizona that the machine may not work that well in really really hot temperatures. It seems to only lower the temperature in your room by around 10-12 degrees but nothing more. For what I need its good, I did get this unit on sale. At full price I wouldn’t say its worth it, I would pay an extra $50 and get a more powerful machine that probably is more reliable.

Bought this a little over a year for my enclosed 10×20 Patio. Cools some but need a 2nd A/C as it doesn’t do the job I expected.

Bought this as a backup to our RV roof top unit. Our grandkids “borrowed” it because they had no AC in their apartment. It has been a life saver for them. Works well and is easy to install.

This is a nice size & does the job. You may want to use it along side a regular, oscillating fan.

Bought this last July, worked fine but had to drain it frequently. This summer worked well for 2 months before it sprung a leak. It’s past the one year warranty, so no replacement. Black and Decker doesn’t have technicians so no help. So went online to see how to fix it and found this is common problem with these units. Lots of complaints about this model.
