The design is very nice looking with smooth lines. Very modern control panel. Cools the room very fast. But my critical objection is that a window must remain open to eject the hot air from the unit. The open window means the home security system must remain off. Otherwise, it’s a great unit. Although a window panel is provided that has a vent hole for the vent hose to mount in a partially open window the open window means the home security system must remain off or at least the zone of the window disarmed. A vent hose is also provided that connects the hot air exhaust port to the window panel so the hot air from the room via the unit can be ejected. I tried it without connecting the hose to the window hoping the unit would eventually also cool the ejected hot air but that did not work because the physics works out where more hot air is created than cool air so the unit can never catch up. Very cold air comes out the front of the unit and hot air comes out the back.

Does not make the room cold. LOUD, and intermittently loud to the point where it scares my cats. Cannot sleep with it on due to it cycling in and out of loud noise and waking me up. DO NOT BUY. I regret throwing out the box, I am stuck with it now.
Edit: edited to add, I tried calling black and decker to get this dealt with and they had the worst customer service of all time, did not reply to emails, actively hung up on me when I tried to calmly but assertively explain what is happening. Passed around to about 5 different customer service reps before getting hung up on! Amazon eventually refunded me due to their complete incompetence. Thank you to Amazon for stepping up to the plate – would give negative stars to this purchase if I could!

Don’t hesitate to purchase this air conditioner. I waited a year to try it out before I wrote this review. Ordered it beginning of last Summer and have now been using it for a month this Summer. Was an easy install and runs great. Great purchase!

The noise is very loud

After a few days of usage, the compressor is dead and will not produce cold air. DO NOT BUY!!!!!

This product somewhat works to cool down a 100 sq foot room to mid 70s on a hot day. However, it will be incredibly loud, turning on and off with audible thuds that make it impossible to sleep around.

This product is super loud and rumbles violently when the cold air cuts off. On average this works fine for 5 minutes, then turns off for 20-30 minutes before the cool air starts working again. It doesn’t constantly cool or run. I live in Houston, Tx and the central air has stopped working so I purchased this in hopes of getting cooler. It doesn’t work, the room it’s in remains at about 95 degrees all the time. Because it only runs for 5 minutes at a time, this won’t cool any area quicker than the weather outside heats it up. Overall -5/5 rating. I paid for a huge fan that blows hot air.

Quite, cold, compact and easy to use and setup. Plugs into normal 110 outlet. Very happy

I bought this AC February 2022, because of the bad heat waves and I felt bad for my dog. It worked great last summer. I hooked it back up for this summer but it’s not blowing cold air, I did as suggested in the manual but no luck. So basically paid a fortune just for a fan. Warranty is only covered for 1 year and of course it wasn’t being used until the next summer just after warrenty expires.
I contacted the manufacturer, and the customer service is not great, I havent received a response. But I’m not sure if they will do anything as the warranty is only covered for 1 year from purchasing. Im very upset with this purchase and I cannot afford to replace this unit, and wouldn’t want to spend so much again just for 4 monthes.

Does work pretty good. It cools the rooms that need cooled.

Not all portable AC’s are created equal. Besides an excellent reputation for cooling, the special features I love on this unit are: wheels (it weighs 64.5 lbs), a built-in cord wrap (to keep the electrical cord out of the way of the drain tube), the dehumidifier option and TWO drain plug locations so you can drain into a bucket, or at floor level. In my high humidity hot weather the dehumidifier option while cooling is essential, and the suppled drain hose removes excess water the internal evaporator pan can’t handle, so the unit won’t throw an error code and quit until the unit is drained (see manual p 21). Connecting the supplied drain hose to the higher plug location allows gravity to divert that excess water into any pan/container you supply, and you can empty that container as needed while the unit is running. The self-rising airflow cover opens when you turn the unit on and closes when you turn it off, keeping the vent area clean when the unit is not in use, which for me is 3/4 of the year. The controls are unobtrusive and practically invisible when the unit is off, and it comes with a remote. The well-designed unit is very functional,, easy to operate, quiet, cools quickly, and is super attractive! The video comparing it to a less attractive B&D wheel-less model that doesn’t do any more, but costs more made this the obvious choice for me.

Less noisy than their previous model but still pretty loud, main complaint is that the temperature sensing is wildly inaccurate and if you try and adjust it it doesn’t respond quickly. It’ll be set to 74°, let my living room hit 80° and keep it exactly there, and if I turn it down so that it’s at least holding it lower? No response. I turn it down 10° and it literally doesn’t change at all. Alternatively some days it’ll be set to 74° and keep it a cool 60°, but at least it’s easier to turn off than it is to get it to turn on. At least the evaporator works unlike the last one. Can’t speak to energy efficiency when the whole building splits the single power bill.

It works really well. My bedroom is probably only 200 sq ft, and this cools it very fast. Nice design. It isn’t that loud at all. My 13,000 BTU one is wayyyyy louder than this one. I do have it on carpet so I am sure that helps. I am very very picky. I need something that keeps me cold at night. I can’t sleep hot and this does a very good job.
I appreciate that this one comes with a hose, because my 13000 one didn’t for drainage. I always had to manually empty it and it is a pain. I would say for the money it is a great deal. I would HIGHLY recommend getting a warranty. In my experience, all A/C units are prone to leading refrigerant or something going wrong. It is worth the money in my opinion.
