I usually go to the negative reviews to see what people don’t like about a product, which I did! I also look at positive and middle reviews as well. It’s not a cordless drill!! However, I have on several occasions used for just that! Obviously only light drilling, like sheet rock, or small pilot holes! It does quite well in fact. Now as far as the forward/reverse switch. Yes, it easy to accidentally push it. It’s also easy to just push it again in the direction you want! The light is useful. I really like the flip feature! Most of the time I use it in the gun position, but there are those times a straight screwdriver is necessary. Battery indicator, again useful. I have had this for about a year. I moved (1100 miles) so therefore this was my go to screwdriver to reassemble everything!! The battery run time is surprising. Obviously, everyone will have different expectations/experiences with this. And, you can charge it with any usb charger! Rather quickly! Over all I’m really satisfied and would buy another in a heartbeat!

With so many things to do around the home, and assemble-yourself-furniture options to buy, a handy power screwdriver is a must have for all of my real estate clients. This is the #1 most used tool (next to the multi-tip ratchet screwdriver) used by most home owners. This is convenient for most jobs around the house. The USB charger makes it convient to charge too. The adjustable handle makes it easier to get to most any space…and the onboard light is a huge help too. Combine that with the multiple bits and the handy starter items (for hanging items) there is no wonder that this is a favorite of all of my clients. I put one of these into a tool bag along with the basic tools, and they are not only set for thier move, but to settle into their new home and do simple maintence for years to come.

Nunca me ha decepcionado black and Decker.

I like the compact size and surprising power it has. Not like the big guys but I love it for the price. You can drill with it also for small projects. Just don’t force it. I do recommend this screwdriver for small projects.

No, it’s not perfect but at this price point it did exceed my expectations.
Ideal around the home I use it to open my laptop case, assemble stuff like my new shop vac, working on appliances, lighting fixtures, the list goes on.
Very solid straight to 90° pistol lock. All metal drive case. Rubber padding around nose of case. Battery status light. Trigger actuated LED headlight. Standard micro USB charge port. Magnetic and mechanical bit chuck. High capacity Lithium ion 4volt power cell. That’s just a few of the features.
I haven’t purchased a new Black & Decker product in probably 30 years with all the higher end tools like Bosh, Makita and Dewalt but I was impressed when I picked one of these up at a H.D.store a few weeks ago & decided to order it.
I own two homes and I’m always doing upgrades or maintenance and working on several vehicles. Several things caught my eye.
#1. Lithium ion battery, watch out for products still using NiCd or NiMh batteries.
#2. USB charge port, I could charge this thing off the stereo in my car /laptop/phone cube…heck I could charge it off my PlayStation.
I really like not having to keep track of another dedicated charger
#3. Transformer, going from pistol to straight. At a desk working in front of you the inline form is natural, Facing a wall the pistol position feels right.
#4. Torque. Looking at the specs of many other cordless screwdrivers this has one of the higher torque numbers.
CONS: My only real complaints are, There should be a ridge or built up area next to the foreword reverse button and trigger so it’s not accidentally switched. I’ll probably use some epoxy with a micro balloon filler to build up the case in those areas. The cheaper version (BDCS30) has the direction switch on top but lacks the pistol to inline transformation feature. The trigger could use a firmer spring, it’s kind of a hair trigger. Also the kit included is of little use and doesn’t have a conventional (blade) style bit , but I certainly didn’t base this purchase on that.
If you are in the market for a power screwdriver to work on computers or for the multitude of projects a homeowner faces go ahead & give this a try. It’s excellent for those long winded screws on electrical fixtures and computer cases. Purchase a 1/4″ to 4mm adaptor and utilize all the precision 4mm bits available from Wiha & ifixit.
I can’t speak to the negative reviews and issues others have had, I guess every now & then a defect will slip through. I can say that I’m very particular & don’t tolerate defective poorly designed products and have no problem returning something and giving a critical review. I honestly would give it 4.5 stars if I could because of the switch issue but I’m sure I can modify that.
I wish I’d had this when I helped my brother assemble his metal storage building with hundreds of sheet metal screws.
P.S. The BDCS40 /30 and 20 will make great gifts this Christmas , just include a modest bit set.
I’m not associated with this product
I received nothing for my review
I recommend this product

I’ve had 2 Hitachi drivers that were superb. I broke one after 7 years (my fault) and the 2nd one, after the 2nd house-build, just quit, with a transmission issue. So, I decided to try another, cheaper strategy. I already had a great Rockwell portable drill/driver, for big jobs, and I wanted something decent, but cheap enough that I can destroy it and just buy another one. Well, this sucker won’t die, it just keeps going. The ergonomics aren’t the best, but they’re pretty good. The LED light is very bright — enough to be actually useful, unlike the Hitachi’s which was a joke.
The B&D BDCSBI MAX 4V is a real work-horse for $35. Perfect for installing kitchen cabinet hardware, hole drills and all, and any project that requires a lot of screwing/driving. It’s more powerful than I thought it would be, and it has a kinda-sorta variable trigger that can go slow if you’re gentle. The magnetic driver holder on top is great, you always need at least 2 bits. The fact you can fold it out is handy for tight spaces.
Cons: it’s not lightning fast like the $80 Hitachi, but fast enough. The directional switch could be a tad easier to use, but I’m nit-picking. The bits are a shirt/small, but you can buy longer & better sets easily.
For the price, it can’t beat beat!
