This ac unit works great, it was easy to setup! It is a little heavy to move off the platform it comes in but once it’s on the wheels, it rolls so easily! I have it on carpet and it can roll to another room with minimal effort. The remote control works well. The noise level is good, sometimes I still feel it sounds a little loud so I’ll put it in sleep mode and that is the quietest setting. Another thing is that the cool air only stays in the room the ac unit is in. Doesn’t travel out to other rooms. Overall, I think this works great, keeps the room cool, looks nice and slick. I’d recommend the unit I’m very happy with it!

We bought this in May of 2023 because I didn’t want to put a window unit back in the window (we like to have the bedroom cooler than the rest of the house at night when we sleep). It has worked great.
This past week our 26 year old HVAC system went out, so we have used this portable unit for a week while waiting for the new HVAC to be installed. IT DID AN AMAZING JOB, kept us very comfortable in upper 80’s temperatures (we live in the southeast US).
Thank you Black and Decker for a great product.

Ordered this days ahead of the record setting heat wave in Oregon.
Found this on amazon because it showed it would arrive in time for the hottest two days we were forecast to have. Amazon delivered as always! Shipped on time and delivery truck came early in the morning.
Setup was fairly easy. I used the window panel vertically and it didn’t fit the entire height of my window. In attempts of combatting the brutal heat, I cut a piece of cardboard from the box to fill the gap. The next day I called the manufacturer who immediately sent out the expander piece that was missing from the box. Not the end of the world and they made it right quickly.
Installation would have probably taken all of 10 minutes from unboxing to turning on had the window workaround not happened. The rest of the install was fairly easy and straightforward.
Unit makes noise, but what AC unit doesn’t? It’s basic white noise and isn’t disruptive while I’m working at home or anything else.
Unit makes the area it is facing cooler. I have vaulted ceilings so it takes more to cool my space than average height ceilings.
This is definitely a product that saved me during record setting heat and will be a new favorite thing during summer months. So pleased with it I’m looking to purchase a second for the back part of my apartment.
Can’t speak to energy efficiency since I have only used it for 2.5 days and haven’t seen the power bill it leads to yet.
Added benefits include the heat, fan and dehumidifier functions I have yet to test. Remote is a benefit tool if you need to use it from a distance I guess.

We are very pleased with this AC Unit. It was very easy to set up, quiet, easy to use. We have a log cabin. The logs really hold the heat. This unit is keeping the cabin 15-20° cooler then the out doors. The only window option for us was the sliding glass door. The window cover sections that come with the unit are not long enough. So we bought a separate window covering unit. Check out the Gaul rear Portable Air Conditioner Sliding Door Seal Plate at https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0836VW7S7?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. It fits the 5.9” hose. We are able to use the hose and air exhaust cap that came with the unit. Plus the window section that fits the Black and Decker hose exhaust cap. We simply added 3 window covering sections and now can cover the length of our slider opening.

It works like a charm to make a room cold. We found that it worked so well that we had to turn the temp up to about 78 degrees or it would make the room too cold. Like any air conditioner it makes a lot of water so we elevated it on a nightstand and drilled a hole to run the upper drain out the window. The lower drain should only make water in cold weather. It makes a lot of water in the houston area as we knew it would. It might fill up a gallon each day. We are using it in an upstairs 300 sqft 2 room arear along with a dehumidifier. Still it makes a lot of water, but that is to be expected here. It does make the rest of the lower rooms much cooler. I chose this because it doesn’t suck air in one hose and expel in another. It only blows out the hot air. And that hose does get hot. I think the hose connections could be a little more air tight but overall it works very well and almost too well unless you turn the temperature up. I don’t think the noise is any more than a window unit. Seems fine to me while blowing very cold air.

At first, I was thrilled with this air conditioner, Temperatures were over 100° and it sure put out a lot of cold air.
When the room finally cooled down, I noticed a problem; the thermostat did not work, and it kept getting colder and colder. It was now 62 degrees, and the unit was still blowing ice cold air.
I called Amazon and they kindly offered a refund which I now know I should have accepted , but temperatures were still running around 100° and I needed to keep the unit until the weather cooled down. Amazon put me in touch with black and decker. Who told me I could exchange it with them and that because it was a multi year warranty. I could wait until the weather got better.
It took a couple of months and several phone calls before they finally sent, the return authorization label. I shipped the unit UPS and they received it on September 21. They confirmed the receipt, and told me I could expect a replacement in 5 to 6 weeks. The replacement would be a new unit, they are not trying to repair the one I sent back, I don’t understand why it would take over a month to get around to shipping a new one, but OK, that was the deal.
IF ONLY….. it is now December 4, I have called them several times, and they keep telling me that it will ship “soon” Note that this unit is a combination, air conditioner/heater, so I still need it. The room is getting cold.
I went online to research “complaints against black and decker” and find that mine is not an isolated incident, in fact, it is pretty common.
