Daniel –
I’ve had this for several months now and am very pleased with my purchase. The auto function has worked as well as I had hoped for. Every time my roommate cooks something in the kitchen it increases fan speed immediately on it’s own. When it’s not actively working hard it’s so quiet you don’t hear it at all. This is a tremendous difference between Levolt and some of the other brands I have experience with. The app ties it in with your phone and you can set schedules you want it to run as well.

We bought a large one for the living/dining room in our condo. We liked it so much we bought a smaller one for the bedroom.
Beauty Full Bras –
Purchased the small 311 Auto for my laundry room where I have two cat litter boxes. I had the unit on the automatic setting, where it runs on low unless it detects particulates…at which time it will automatically go on high. Every time my cats use the litter boxes and when we shovel them, it registers the red color and immediately goes on high to clean the air. Very surprisingly, my husband took a hit off of his E-Cigarette in the adjacent bedroom, and the 311 detected the faint cigarette smoke and immediately went on high to clear the air. I have since purchased the 211i Auto to keep in my living room in hopes that it will cut down on the dust generated by my cats going in and out of the house. I highly recommend this unit.
TT –
Purchased to help out with allergies – specifically when sleeping. Bedroom is ~150 sq. ft. with 8 ft. ceiling.
Observations:
1). Getting initial wifi connection took nearly 30 mins. I am a heavy PC user by the way. And I have a degree in IS/IT. But after the initial connection issues it was solid.
2) The app would never provide current PM2.5 levels unless I shut down the app and restarted it.
3) Sensor is not very sensitive so the auto mode is useless unless air quality is very bad.
4) I ran a test where I lit half of an insence stick. After a full day of the unit running I could still smell the insence. Not impressive.
5) The purifier has 3 fan speeds selectible from the top. The app allows far more resolution of fan speeds which is nice. Above the 2nd setting the unit is very loud. Not just loud, but it’s a very irritating type of white noise. I believe that’s because of the high frequency content – but I didn’t verify that wirh a spectrum analyzer. It’s my perceived/subjective assessment. For example I have a large fan that is easily louder in terms of decibels, but it is a relaxing sound (like a hum) that helps sleeping.
6) I noticed very little change in the amount of dust settling on surfaces. And that’s with forcing the unit to run on a higher setting than auto mode would select by itself. The reality is that this unit doesn’t move much air.
I see two main use cases for this:
1) In a small-ish room, running it on the lowest speed (or close to) and placing it within a few feet of where you are – say at night.
2) In a larger space (maybe almost as large as what it’s rated for) by running it on high while you are away (say at work) then slowing it down when you are home so it’s not annoying.
It’s a fine unit, but you just need to understand its limitations. It’s for small volumes only in my opinion. I think a separate “stirring” fan would help bring air particles around so this unit could snag them. But then I think it makes more sense to just get a larger air purifier. Keep in mind a larger unit (albiet more expensive) has three big advantages:
1) It can clean the same volume of air as a smaller unit – but at a lower (read quieter) fan speed.
2) When necessary, it will be capable of cleaning a larger volume (pulling in from a greater distance).
3) It can clean the same volume of air as a smaller unit, but quicker.
Considering the experience I had, I returned mine because it simply didn’t meet my needs. I purchased a much larger unit and will deal with the size. In the end I care more about the quality of my space than I do the decor.

Niagara is purity –
I just received my BLUEAIR 411a Max today so all I can do is talk about the product’s design. It’s very nice, and it is quiet. My school has the original BLUEAIR filters in every classroom, but I’ve always used XiaoMi purifiers in my home and I have to say that those are also excellent. But Xiaomi filters are more expensive in the States so I went with BLUEAIR. As I said, it is stylish and quiet and based on research it is an effective cleaner. Some reviewers complained about the fabric prefilter being cheap- it looks and feels nice but I believe it will need to be washed gently and put back on carefully when the time comes. I have the newer version with the conical shape so I don’t think it will tip over as easily as the previous cylindrical design. I don’t consider it poorly designed or manufactured, it wasn’t intended to be rough-housed and I think most people should be able to move it without damaging it. So if you’ve read those complaints about it falling over or being flimsy, I think you can safely ignore them unless you are the kind of person that breaks most anything in which case…
