This is a nice solid aluminum tri pod. Sure beats my last plastic one.

I bought the tripod and been using it nearly each week since then.
    Very nice price quality relation.
The only thing is that it’s quite heavy, not ideal for backpacking. But for me is perfect.

Super consigliato, validissimo cavalletto:bello e robusto, rapporto qualità prezzo ottimo. L’ho utilizzato per fare dei video con la reflex ed ha fatto il suo lavoro egregiamente. Ottimo anche per gestire con fluidità i movimenti di camera.

I’d prefer this over other plastic tripods. I might eventually have to replace the ball head due to worn plastics. It’s cool it can go mono pod and flip for macro. It has the features I want at a reasonable price.

Are you kidding? For $21 this is a steal. It’s nearly identical to several other models from other manufacturers selling for MUCH more. This thing is well built, sturdy, and well worth the money. I’ve gone through my share of table top tripods and this is by far the best.

First, let’s get some precise measurements. The weight with the included ball head is 9.6 oz. The folded size depends on how you measure. With the ball head in the upright position, I get 10.1″ from the bottom of the legs to the top surface of the ball plate (not counting the 1/4-20 which sticks up another 0.2″ or so). But, if you reposition the ball plate so it’s 90° off to the side, the folded length becomes 9.8″.

The largest diameter is the locking ring for the legs, at about 1.75″ diameter. With the legs extended, each leg protrudes 5.5″ from the center point of the tripod, providing a footprint diameter of about 11″.

The maximum working height to the ball plate, with center column extended, is 15.6″. The height with the center column retracted is 11.2″. But you can go a bit lower by releasing the leg locking ring and lowering the center column until it nearly touches the ground, then locking it again. The minimum working height in this position is 9.7″. Surprisingly, this option is not mentioned in the manual or on the Amazon page.

The included cell phone mount is spring loaded with rubber grips on both ends. It looks like the maximum width of the device it can hold is about 3.25″. The thickness it can accommodate is a bit less than 1/2″ – I measured it at 11 mm. So it can handle phones with some cases as long at they’re not too thick. There are rubber lips at the front edge of each end of the mount to keep the phone from slipping out. You could mount a thicker phone/case setup if you don’t mind those lips holding the phone instead of the phone being in the 11mm slots behind the lips. The cell phone holder provides a strong grip on the phone and has a 1/4-20 socket on the rear and on one end.

For construction, the legs, center column and ball head are all aluminum. It feels very rigid and well made. There are a few plastic parts in the locking mechanisms, but everything feels very solid. The center column extension locking collar has a rubber grip ring on it that is not glued to the collar itself. As a result, if you try to lock it too hard, the rubber grip ring slips. I’m not sure if that’s intentional or not, but it does lock very securely, and keeps you from over-tightening.

Balance: as with any of this style tripod, balance, and a level surface, are important because you cannot adjust the leg length at all. I tried it with my Lumix GH5 and a 35-100 telephoto zoom lens and found it very stable when properly balanced. Note that this requires knowing where your center of gravity (COG) is. Aiming my lens at the position between two legs was the least stable. It did not tip over on its own, but felt very near to the tipping point. If I aimed the lens over one of the outstretched legs, it was more stable. But, my GH5 camera’s tripod socket is offset to one side so the camera itself is not balanced over the tripod center. This meant that, between the camera offset and the lens weight, my gear’s COG was to the front/right of the camera body. When I positioned one tripod leg under my guess for the COG position, it became extremely stable and not remotely prone to tipping in any direction. If your camera’s tripod socket is in the middle of the body, then you’ll want to aim your lens directly over one leg.

Keep in mind that this is a tabletop tripod, not a field tripod. You may have difficulty with balance if you want to use it on uneven ground. There are other mini tripods that might be better suited to that use, but you could also bring some shims along to put under the legs of this one to level it up. It doesn’t need to be perfectly level, but you probably don’t want any one leg more than an inch higher that the others. Probably less if you’re using the full center column extension and you have heavier gear. You can get away with more if you’re using a cell phone.

Camera Mount: The ball head is small, lightweight, and not the highest quality, but perfectly usable. My camera is held very securely with only moderate tightening of the thumbscrew. There is no quick disconnect plate so if you want that feature you’d have to add your own plate. The top plate of the included ball head unscrews and leaves the 1/4-20 screw available for mounting your own plate. Or, you can unscrew the entire ball head, exposing another 1/4-20 screw, and then you can mount your own ball head. Of course, doing so would add to the size and weight.

Other: The legs have a small rubber pad at each end which seems very grippy and keeps the tripod securely in place. It comes with a strap which seems to me kind of useless for such a small tripod. There’s no way to remove it so I may cut it off if I get annoyed with it. The cell phone holder comes in a zip lock bag, along with an Allen wrench. I could find no Allen head screws anywhere on the cell phone holder or anywhere on the tripod at all! The tripod comes with a carrying bag which, while it’s a nice touch, I don’t find it all that useful. To me a tripod needs to be easily accessible. Keeping it in its own carrying bag, in addition to being inside a gear bag or backpack, just means it takes more time to get it out.

Bottom line – this tripod is well made, solid, and versatile. It folds up small enough to fit in any camera bag and holds a good sized camera. I’m frankly amazed at what a high quality piece of gear this is for $21. Especially when others are selling similar models from $40 to $70! This really is a no brainer. Just buy it.

  9. Don’t make me get out my flying monkeys!

Extremely compact, I got it in the mail and doubted if I got the right thing. It’s a little sensitive to touches when extended all the way but besides that, this is a great beginner tripod with lots of ability

Light weight, durable, and easy to set. i love the monopole feature. Literally the only gripe is that the rubber feet were lost on the first two outings. The original set unscrewed very easily even when I tightened them down all the way. Luckily use universal parts so it was an easy fix.

I have other tripods which are Tycka and NEEWER. Purchased this for my daughter. It is not the same quality as the other 2 but also did not cost near as much. Occasional use with mainly cameras it should hold up fine. I do recommend as a good starter or as stated occasional use not and everyday’er.

Daumen hoch- 5 Sterne!

Most tripods are too short. this one is perfect plus it can be used as a mono pod, low boy config, you name it. The ball head is faster to set up than the ones with the tilt handle.
