I have been burnt by aftermarket ink, like when one brand cartridge was not recognized by my printer, so I go back to Canon product when I want reiability. That said, I have had good luck with many purchases of aftermarket manufacturer’s ink (not always), so I continue to go for price savings if I have a true Canon product as backup. Canon has always delivered reliable product, but I wish it were more price competitive.
