I bought these mittens specifically for shoveling snow during the cold winter months. For years I would shovel snow, and the rest of my body would be very comfortable, with layers I could peel off as I warmed up during shoveling. However, all those years I was wearing regular gloves with fingers. I was using nice quality gloves, but certainly not any gloves rated for severe cold or for professional outdoors use. In any case, my fingers have always gotten very cold while I shoveled, and often when I would go back inside and remove my gloves, my hands and fingers would hurt due to the severe change of temperatures. I got really tired of this and finally decided to get a good quality pair of mittens, due to the fact that mittens keep your hands warmer since the fingers are not isolated from one another. I like having the dexterity of gloves, but I don’t need that dexterity at all while shoveling.

I have now used these Carharrt mittens about a dozen times for shoveling. I have been out there 45 minutes at times, or even slightly longer, and my hands haven’t been even a little bit cold. And when I come back inside, my hands just feel great, and there is no shock from my fingers going from freezing cold to warm. For the money, these mittens are superb. They suit my needs perfectly, and I am thrilled with my purchase. For doing any work in the cold which does not require dexterity, I can heartily recommend these mittens if you like having comfortable and happy hands.

Theses things are a great purchase, not the warmest they’re a bit thin(still pretty warm) but more importantly they are fully water proof. Hands stay dry no matter how much water.

I usually go for Kombi brand gloves/mitts, but I decided to give these Carhartt W.P. Waterproof Insulated Mitts a try, and I’m really glad I did! The quality is excellent—they’re durable, warm, and completely waterproof, even in harsh conditions. The insulation keeps my hands toasty without feeling bulky, and the fit is comfortable with good flexibility. These mitts held up perfectly during long hours outside in the cold. Carhartt really impressed me with this one, and I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for rugged, reliable winter gear!

My husband and I are Michiganders who moved to a warmer state. Every time we returned home for the holidays with family we would freeze. Gloves weren’t doing it for us to stay warm during outdoor activities. It’s not fun when you can’t feel your fingers. I purchased a pair of Carhartt Men’s and Women’s mittens so our fingers could keep warm when together rather than separated by glove fingers.

These mittens worked so well to keep our hands warm that we ran into a different issue; it just got too hot! We would have to take our mittens off to let our hands cool off before putting them back on or else the mittens would get sweaty inside.

It’s effective, almost too effective, at keeping or getting your hands warm while in freezing cold temperatures. I’ve been through too many gloves, expensive and cheap, and my hands would eventually get cold. I’d gotten my toddlers these same mittens and after playing in the snow realized their hands were not cold at all when we got back indoors. I aesthetically prefer gloves but I realistically prefer warmth, so I figured I’d lose nothing but trying some adult men’s mittens for myself.

Since I got these I have continued to be surprised at how warm my hands would remain in these things. And even more impressive is that when I put them on after I’d already had my hands out in the cold for too long, my hands would warm back up in a few minutes.

As someone who spent a few winters buying and trying many different gloves and brands, I can say without a doubt that these get the job done of you want to be out in the cold doing activities without your fingers going numb.

If you’re mitten-averse like I was, I get it. There are some limits to what you can do/grab/touch. But it’s not that much more of a hindrance than gloves already are. You can’t wiggle your fingers freely. And to get the maximum insulation they should fit your hand more snug than loose. I had a slightly larger pair (XL) first and it let in a little bit of air when I wore those in the cold so stuck with the large. I can’t spread my fingers fully with them on but i can spread them just enough to relax my hands. If you value warmth as part of comfort this won’t be an issue, but again, a size up gives you more room but a bit more cold air in exchange.

We live in one of the coldest places on Earth, and these mitts kept our hands and fingers warm all winter. Worth the price.

These are more brown and dull than the stock photos and I like that, it’s really hard to get an accurate photo of the colour as my camera changes it, the editing mode on my camera goes slightly dull when you edit photos (!?) and then Amazon slightly changes the photo when you upload it 🙃 but hopefully my pics give a better idea of the colour as it’s somewhere between the two photos I’ve uploaded.. 🤌🙏
Gloves feel very well made and warm and I’ll definitely consider Carhartt in the future.

My hands and fingers often get extremely cold when using traditional ski gloves so I decided to try mittens. These mittens kept my hands very warm during a 3 day ski trip to Jackson Hole, WY. In fact, my hands were actually sweating at times even though temps were in the teens and 20s and it was snowy and windy each day. Overall the gloves performed great. They seem well made and durable. I wear size L in most gloves but the size L in these mittens was too small for my hands. My fingers were touching the ends of the gloves and were uncomfortable, despite there being plenty of width. I exchanged the size L for XL and the fit was perfect.

I purchased these after reading reviews. Most of the reviews were positive and indicated the mittens were very warm and some reviews stated the the mittens were larger than expected.
I normally would choose a 2XL mitten or glove. These largest these mittens are is XL. I ordered them and hoped they would be roomy enough. Unfortunately I find the mittens are true to size and maybe a bit small to size.

They are snug going on, but one else on, most of my hand is ok , but the thumb is too short.

I have chronic cold hands and Reynauds (white fingers when cold). I’ve tried all sorts of gloves including heated and nothing is very good,

I tested these gloves for two hours of snow removal in 15*F. (-9*C). The good is that my four fingers on each hand stayed warm and dry! However, my thumb on each hand did get cold and painful. Part of this is that the mitten thumb is not long enough and my thumb presses against the end. This causes a loss of insulating effect (there needs to be some airspace).

Using snow blowing and shovel for two hours makes most gloves or mittens soaked. Theses did stay dry, but time will tell if they continue like this after a season of use.

The inside did collect some perspiration and it takes a while to dry that out. It helped to prop the mitten open with a small piece of cardboard so it dried thoroughly.

I’d say the mitten is a good value and very warm, but don’t expect it to be larger than its stated size. If anything, it’s a little snug and you’d better off upsizing to be warmer.
