For the price for two burgers and some fries, I got a very capable fun toy, and found I’m really enjoying seeing the small world. Pics include wooden table, cardboard and paper (some printed), cork, plastic mesh, straw. Pros : clear image, 60-120x zoom is a great range for observing wood, hair, paper, cloth, cardboard, leaves, writing with different pens/pencils/paintbrushes. Includes a clip for smartphones*. Cons : tiny viewing opening at the top, LED light very bright, would be cool to make it adjustable. Better results with smartphone if zooming. Must stabilize the microscope because no OIS. *included smartphone clip holds onto smartphone well, but my Galaxy S20 FE switches between main lens and zoom lens unpredictably, so more time spent readjusting lens rather than enjoying. I see some effort was put into the clip however. Overall, good buy ๐

I recently purchased the Carson MicroBrite Plus 60x-120x LED Lighted Pocket Microscope, and I’m thrilled with my purchase. As an enthusiast of microscopy, I needed a reliable and portable tool to explore the microscopic world. This pocket microscope delivers on both counts.
Pros:
– Portability: The MicroBrite Plus is compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry around.
– Bright LED Illumination: The built-in LED light system provides clear vision and accurate observations.
– High Magnification: With a versatile magnification range of 60x to 120x, this microscope adapts to various experiments.
– Educational: It’s an excellent STEM toy for kids and adults alike, encouraging hands-on exploration.
– Lab-Tested: Designed and tested in New York by Carson, a USA-based optics expert since 1990.
Cons:
– Focus Adjustment: Some users find it challenging to adjust the focus, especially for round or curved objects.
– Clarity: A few users experienced difficulty getting a clear view, possibly due to the focus issue.
Overall, I highly recommend the Carson MicroBrite Plus 60x-120x LED Lighted Pocket Microscope to anyone interested in exploring the microscopic world. Its portability, bright LED illumination, and high magnification make it an excellent tool for students, professionals, and enthusiasts alike.

I bought both this producย
Carson MicroBrite Plus 60x-120x Power LED Lighted Pocket Microscope (MM-300)] and the lower magnification sibling [[ASIN:B000Z3A8UY Carson MicroBrite 20x-40x LED Lighted Pocket Microscope for Learning, Education and Exploring (MM-24, MM-24MU)
]. Both are inexpensive and good, and overall, I’m happy with them.
This model has several features that make it better than the 20-40x model, including:
1) focus on a dial knob, easy to use (the other model has the focus on a twisting lever)
2) the light stays on (the other model requires the user to keep pressing the light button)
3) AA battery lasts longer than the small button LR44 batteries used in the other model
However, this model lacks a base and does not have a glass slide holder; the other model has both. Unfortunately, the removable base of the 20-40x model does not fit this model. To me, the lack of a base is a big deal because this being a higher magnification (60-100x), it is much harder to keep an object in place. The scope may be useful to look at prepared slides, but unless you have a very stead hand, it will be hard to observe the slide (or anything else) for a long time without moving the scope.
The image quality is also surprisingly good for an inexpensive microscope. Overall, it is a good investment, but I think I will be using the lower magnification model more often in the field than this one because of the lack of a base. Also, the higher magnification limits the range of objects that one is likely to find; it is more useful to study microscope slides or other specialized use.
I am a researcher and use research microscopes; I bought both to see if they could be used on college level field trips, such as my Invertebrate Zoology class; I think would be very useful, especially the 20-40x model. This one is more useful to look at prepared slides, like the ones in my Parasitology class; although we already have real microscopes in the lab, the 60-100x scope may be useful to do a quick check on a slide while another student is at the real microscope.
Suggestion for the manufacturer: make both 20-40x and the 60-100x models with the same profile, so that they can use the same removable base, or add a similar base to the 60-100x model.
This scope makes a good companion and complements its little sibling, the 20-40x scope. I recommend buying both to a child who is interested in sciences (if buying only one, I would recommend the other model as the a first microscope).

Itโs Good. Has amazing quality with lots of different good features. And lens are easy to clean with good quality. I really recommend this microscope, because itโs pretty cheap for a microscope and works really well!

This mini microscope is a really cool item and is useful for a lot of different applications where seeing the make up of of an item or substance is important. the LED provide adequate lighting and the unit is compact enough that is can be put into a bag or backpack with not real increase in weight. The view is clear as long as the lenses are kept clean at both ends but may be an issue for those of us who wear glasses, as I do, but I make it work. The controls are, however a little loose and sloppy and I can see that over time and significant use they would simply become worse. The focus knob isn’t nearly as sturdy as it should be and letting go of it with your fingers can set it off from where you had initially set it up, so a more precise focus is needed with closer tolerances to that the knob isn’t loose or “sloppy” is needed. Also the magnification is somewhat similar to the focus knob, it does it’s job, but will get looser over time and needs closer tolerances in it’s manufacturing to make it reliable and stays where it is told without the act of letting go of it causing it to move slightly. Other than that it is a great tool and I do recommend it for field use just making you aware that it is what it is and that it will never be a replacement for a true microscope. But if you are looking to have a field microscope in your pocket this is a great way to get it, I do recommend a carrying case for it so that dirt and dust do not get inside of it making the adjusting knobs wear out prematurely, and to prevent being packed with other objects from causing additional sloppiness in the focus and magnification adjusters! I do wish I had bought the microscope with the slide viewing slot in it as this would have expanded it’s capabilities for me but might not be necessary for everyone.

I bought this on a whim because it was so reasonably priced. I figured if it was terrible I wouldnโt be out enough money to bother me.
This thing is so interesting and easy to use. My first thought was about Birthdays or Christmas. No kids could resist using it to examine everything.
The phone clip was a disappointment but it was due to my phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max) having multiple lens and it automatically switches lens and doesnโt work. Even when used on devices with a single lens, it works, but itโs not user friendly imo.
