COMFEE’ 30-Inch Stainless Steel Range Hood, 2-Speed

The description of this range hood is incomplete, sometimes incorrect and sometimes misleading.

— According to the Amazon description, the grease filters are “dishwasher safe.” However, the user manual states that the “Grease filters may be washed using mild soap or a detergent”. I called Customer Service and they confirmed that the filters should NOT be cleaned in a dishwasher.

— If you’re ordering this as a replacement for a unit that exhausts to the outside, confirm in advance that your existing hood uses a circular vent on the top of the unit. If your existing hood uses a rectangular vent opening on the rear of the unit, you’ll need to purchase a rectangular “check valve”, to the tune of $11.95 plus $12.00 shipping.

— If you are opting to use the hood in “recirculation mode”, be aware that you’ll need to purchase a $19 charcoal filter before you can start using the unit, and you’ll need to spend another $19 to replace the filter every three months thereafter.

— If your existing unit is hard-wired electrically, you’ll need to have an electrical outlet installed to accommodate the unit’s electrical plug, possibly requiring the services of an electrician.

Bottom line: unless your existing hood vents to the outside from the top and plugs into an existing electrical outlet, you will incur additional expenses and you won’t be able to get the hood up and running right out of the box.

(Note: My rating is based on the above issues — not on the hood’s performance, which I won’t be able to evaluate until the rectangular “check valve” arrives)

It doesn’t flow much air in it’s ductless setup. Not sure how much air it would flow with a ducted setup. And that wouldn’t be a huge issue if it wasn’t so loud! But it is very loud AND hardly able to catch any actual cooking smoke.

I bought the 2-speed originally: This fan looked perfect for our space. I hooked it all up and it was working fine for about a week, but when we were in the middle of cooking a large meal – frying foods, using all burners and oven at once – the fan suddenly stopped.

I disassembled and reassembled everything to see if I could identify any issues, but I didn’t see anything obviously wrong. The light was working, the fan would spin freely by hand, but the motor didn’t turn or make any noise after that and had to return. I had thrown away the original box and because it’s so large it was like $25 to buy a box from ups on the return.

then bought the 3-speed. this one comes with a plug for power, and I didn’t feel like ripping it apart to get into the power cables in the wall from the previous fans so now it’s awkwardly plugged in nearby… the light is so dim it’s basically useless and the 3 speed fan hardly pulls any air. Overall would not recommend either of these products. they look nice, but functionally are very flawed.

 Install was easy fit was perfect. Wiring was easy. It does come with a 112v wall plug but I hardwired mine. Fan is very strong. Light is nice and bright. Perfect for a kitchen upgrade

It looks pretty, minimalistic, and elegant. It even provided a to-scale trill sheet, but the holes are slightly off. Overall, I’m quite satisfied with this small-wattage hood.

As advertised. Works well no issues.
