I’ve been playing upright bass for over a decade. In that time I’ve been using clip-on guitar tuners to tune. They’re never accurate and take a while to find the pitch. The low E takes forever. This new tuner is dead on pitch and immediate. It fits easily on the bridge and remains there during performance without disrupting tone. I bought the rechargeable version. D’Addario products usually hold up to their quality standards. I’ve also used it on my mandocello with same results accept that I put in on the headstock. 👍👍👍

Love this thing! I’m new to cello and this thing helps me dial in my tuning and fingering. It is very easy to read but also compact enough that I just leave it clipped on even when I’m not using it. I used to use an analog tuner with that moving needle that jumped erratically, it used a mic for tuning and never gave a straight answer. The D’Addario gives me a straight solid answer instantly. Its inexpensive and works great. Its a must have for me.

You cannot place it close to the instrument, it HAS TO BE ON THE INSTRUMENT. CLIPPED ON. PHYSICAL CONTACT!
I press the “on” and read my strings… very easy to use. I don’t bother turning it off , it does that by itself. It is so small that I never take it off; it is always on my bridge. Despite the convenient small size, the Screen is Large and in Colour. It is Easy to read. I love it, it is just lovely!

My wife plays the cello and I play the bass. She wanted an electronic tuner like the one I use. I had some complaints about the brand I was using and decided to find her a tuner that was simpler to use and had an auto off feature. Mine does not. I looked at a lot of tuners but settled on the D’Addario Eclipse. I’ve used D’Addario strings and have always been satisfied, I admit I was partially baiting based on my previous experience with the brand.
When it arrive I gave it a thorough run through. I was happily satisfied with it. So much so that I think I’ll toss my old tuner and get one of these D’Addario Eclipses for myself. My wife, though very intelligent and talented in many areas, is not a tech or gadget person. She says she really likes how simple it is to use and her cello coach says my wife’s cello is always perfectly tuned. Job well done!
