Jeffrey Philyaw –
I’ve been playing acoustic guitar for twenty years. I’ve tried every string I could get my hands on. I usually gravitate toward D’Addario strings. Their standard phosphor bronze strings are what I typically use.
The last time I restrung my guitar, I purchased Ernie Ball Earthwood strings at the recommendation of my local music store. I HATED them. From the moment I put them on, my guitar sounded so dead and lifeless. It was like I had put six month old, tarnished strings onto my guitar. Everything was so dull and muted.
Cue the D’Addario coated phosphor bronze strings. After that terrible experience, I decided to splurge and buy some “expensive” strings. I knew I liked D’Addario, so I figured I’d like expensive D’Addario too. I had high expectations and I was still blown away by these strings.
Night and day compared to the Earthwood strings. My guitar was load and bright and sang so beautifully. From the very first moment I strung them onto my guitar, before it was even tuned, I knew. These were the strings for me.
They sound just as good, if not better than the standard D’Addario phosphor bronze strings, but the coating makes them so much more playable. String noise is greatly reduced. The strings are so smooth that my fingers glide up and down the fretboard effortlessly. They’ve been on my guitar for a few weeks now, and they still look and play like they’re brand new. No hint of tarnish anywhere on the strings.
At over double the price of the standard phosphor bronze strings, I don’t think these would be more cost effective. I don’t think I’ll get over double the life out of these over a standard set of strings, but the added playability and longevity more than makes up for the price difference to me. I’ll probably use these strings for the rest of my life.

I’ve been using Martin strings for ever and after purchasing a Taylor guitar and finding out it came from the factory I decided to fry them on my Martin.
OMG! Brightness, string quality make the guitars sound good and play nice.

Great volume , smooth feel, and long lasting. 3rd set of them and people always ask …
how do you get that sound ?
But. …crazy price !!!!!!!

Does the job delivered quickly, great strings and definite improvement in sound for the guitar I fitted them to.
Roberto M. –
I bought these strings for the first time and was pretty pleased with the sound. They are very bright and lively especially on my 0015M guitar. However, for my 2 dreadnoughts, I’ll be switching back to Elixir strings. You can hear the difference when recording. They have a deeper, smoother quality. Don’t get me wrong, D’addario are quality but not necessarily right for all guitars. Like most experienced players, you have to pick and choose until you find what best fits your instrument .

These sounds great, they feel great, and they play great! Will absolutely keep these on my Taylor!
Bigplansforsleepingin –
I’ve been playing on these for about 2 weeks now and have no complaints. They’re smooth, hold tuning well, and the tone doesn’t seem to lean too far in either the “dark” or “bright” directions on my concert sized acoustic. When compared to Elixer nanowebs of the same size I found them to be very comparable at a lower price.
Time will tell on their longevity, but I’ll likely give D’addario xs’s a shot on my electric guitar as well, I’ve liked them so much so far.

Love these!! Nice slick feel to them, great sound!!

I have played guitar for 25 years. In that time, I never liked coated strings. Still, I burn through strings so frequently that I really needed to do something. I bought a new Taylor that had these XS strings already on it, though I didn’t know that at the time. After really enjoying the feel and sound, I noticed these strings weren’t wearing out as quickly. I contacted Taylor and found out they were D’Addario XS 12-53s. I couldn’t believe it! These were coated strings?! So, I bought packs for all of my guitars. Electric and Acoustic. I’ve tried different gauges but every pack of XS strings has been wonderful. For me, they sound good, they feel good and THEY LAST! Playing several hours each day, I can now go months between string changing. As opposed to every week or so before. After much use, I can see little bits of the coating fray but oftentimes (especially early on) you can’t even tell they’re coated. Bottom line, if you’re tired of changing strings all the time, and want to give coated strings a try, THESE ARE FOR YOU.
Percy Caramellum –
I love these strings! They sound so beautiful to me, the crisp sound just doesn’t seem to fade and I play hours daily. They’re strong and I’ve only broken two strings in years, but that was my fault messing around with too many different tuning in such a short period of time, I also don’t have the highest quality acoustic guitar with top of the line tuning pegs.
Another nice bonus is the Player’s Circle Points. They have a code on the packaging you enter into D’Addario’s website and after a redeeming the codes on a few sets, you can can get free products. You still have to buy a bit before but I’m not going to turn down a free set of strings or a capo or whatever anytime soon.
People complain about the price a lot but in my opinion they’re worth it. A 3 pack lasted me over 6 months of daily use. Take from that what you will lol
Shipped basically in record time as well.
