These new Chinese made 880’s are cheaply made garbage. It’s not as accurate as my old, USA made 880’s that had metal receivers. The plastic pump handle is now even thinner and more flexible. The gun itself feels like a plastic, grocery store quality dart gun. I’m not exaggerating, you compare this new one side by side to an old one and the current model looks and feels like a piece of 💩.

I bought this for pest control. I’d bought a much more expensive air rifle prior, but it was so heavy, I needed a stand/support to keep it steady, and so I got this Daisy to replace it. (If I’d known about this Daisy, I never would’ve bought the other air rifle!) It’s EXCELLENT! First, it’s extremely light weight: You won’t get tired holding and aiming. Second, it’s extremely accurate. I actually bought a scope for it, but never installed it., because the sights are accurate right out of the box; visibility is enhanced through the red painted site at the end of the barrel. I use only the pellet function, but it takes bbs, too; it’s just that you can only fire one shot at a time with either ammunition. My only critique is I wish it came with a five- or ten-magazine. Fortunately, I’m a good shot, but it would be nice to have more shots ready to go in the event there’s a miss. Definitely recommend!

i bought this as my first bb gun and i am at the very least amazed with what this can do. i used crosman destroyer pellets and they left an exit wound the size of a 9mm slug in an apple. i had pretty high expectations for quality and performance, but the way this rifle performs and its build quality put my expectations to shame. i shot the target from 20m away without a scope almost as soon as i received my rifle, and had a 2-3in grouping. straight out the box, good first gun and hunting rifle for small game.
I could easily imagine using this on pests. i already have used it on the occasional garden slug or spider and it is ridiculous in its ability to fling/instantly disable a pest. it can launch spiders 60 feet and slugs 20, i can hit a blackberry off the leg of a chair from 10m away with this rifle without an issue, though the gun could have been sighted better on arrival. Overall great gun, easy to pump considering its ridiculous speed. use piranha pellets from crosman, they weigh 10.5 grains and are the perfect projectile for this gun, they fly around 750-800 fps out of the barrel on 10 pumps and they have enough power to pop a solo cup, explode an apple, or smash through a 1/2“ wooden plank.
Update: it has been almost 5 months, this thing holds up better than ever. i can still hit a 2“ target from 50‘ away with it sighted in properly, i would recommend this so so much. however, buy gun oil. the lever gets creaky otherwise. this should be a given.

I’ve been using a Daisy 880 which is an inexpensive (around $45 U.S.) multipump. In spite of the fact that it’s a low end gun, with plastic stock etc, it’s a wonderful bargain! It’s versatile with power and accuracy. In the summer I use it outside and with just 4-5 pumps it is accurate shooting level at 70 feet. (It goes to 740 fps at 10 pumps) In the winter or inclement weather, it’s safe to use indoors by just pumping twice. A box full of paper magazines packed 3 deep, or a 10” x 10” box with duct seal will stop a BB and prevent richochet. Canvas or carpet makes a backdrop, but wood should be back of that, as a direct hit will penetrate these materials at 2-3 pumps.
It holds 50 B.B.’s and reloading is easy, so I can shoot without interruption. I found loading pellets awkward and tedious with this gun, so I only use B.B.’s. It’s surprisingly accurate. Indoors with 2-3 pumps and using the iron sight, I am able to consistently hit the bottom of a 2 inch cat food can at 28 feet.
The pumping lever is very easy to use, as the direction makes use of shoulder muscles. The Crossman 70 and other guns with the pump mechanism forward, require more wrist and elbow, which I find more difficult.
At 8 pumps it easily penetrated an old steel soup can, so there’s lots of spare power. I don’t hunt and don’t like to harm or kill anything, so the iron sights are fine. The one problem I had with the rear iron sight, was that I couldn’t focus on it well, especially in low light levels. Since I can’t shoot with reading glasses, that was a problem (my problem, not the gun’s). I solved this with a carefully cut out piece of iridescent orange self stick name label, which I pasted to the rear sight. Now I can focus on it easily and am shooting with great accuracy. If this gun wears out in a couple years, I got my money’s worth (and it may last longer).

I was hoping for a little above average and that’s what I got. The spread on bb’s is about 6″ diameter at 30 feet, which is pretty bad. The spread on pellets is about 2″ diameter at 30 feet, which is acceptable for shooting starlings. Easy to load, easy to pump, feels pretty sturdy for being mostly plastic. I hit a starling at about 50 feet, and house sparrows at up to 30 feet. Probably hitting about 66% rate, which is all I was hoping for at this price. So far, all immediate kills so you don’t have to worry about just injuring the pest. (I’m still human after all!) I would recommend this gun for this type of use.
