DEWALT grinder’s brake stops wheel in 2 seconds or less on average
Kickback Brake engages when a pinch, stall, or bind-up event is sensed and the electronic brake engages with maximum force to quickly stop the wheel, reduce the movement of the metal grinder and shut the grinder off.
Features E-Switch Protection – When the ON/OFF trigger switch has a no-volt release function. In the event of a power outage or other unexpected shut down, the trigger switch will need to be cycled (turned off and then on) to restart tool.
Two stage trigger requires two actions to activate tool.
The bare tool was $199 in the store, so this was a no brainer. My 18v was damaged and I had to replace it, hoping that this one lasts 22years also.

I’ve been buying cheap corded grinders from HF and such for years. I figured there couldn’t be THAT much of a difference to justify an extra $100. Just use ‘em up, junk ‘em, and buy another.
This thing is in a completely different universe than the throwaways. The auto stop, the well-built paddle throttle, the prescription and ease of changing the disk…Most of all, it just feels safer. I hated using grinders because they always felt like they wanted to assault me. This Dewalt grinder feels so much more obedient.
If you can spring for it, get yourself one of these. You’ll be happy you did.
