Great little action camera. Has UHD and HD video capability. The rocksteady is phenomenal for stabilization. The app works well and not buggy like the gopro. The go pro 9 obviously has better image with its 5k. Unfortunately this camera boasts waterproof capabilities but this is not true. Water got in the first time I tried to use it in the pool. Didn’t even last 2 minutes in the water Thing broke and is no better than a paper weight now. Have sent out to DJI for repair but from what other reviews say your pretty much on your own if its water damage. So in all. Buy only for action sports and keep it away from water.
Update. DJI did indeed come through and sent me a brand new camera. It took about 10 days for me to send it out and be reviewed and the new camera delivered. Super happy about it but I am really scared about putting it in water again so I probably won’t.

Estabilidade excelente!

EDIT: After a few days of use, my new Osmo Action has begun to display an overheating error and shuts down after about 15 mins. of recording. I’m hoping that I just got a defective unit, since I can’t seem to find a lot of information online about this being a regular problem. I have a new one ordered and will be returning this one. I will try to update this review once I’ve tested the replacement. For now, I’m leaving it at 5 stars, but that will certainly change if this problem should also persist with the replacement!
My initial impressions: I absolutely love this camera. It’s my first GoPro-style action camera and I don’t know how I could be happier. Battery life is somewhat short, but I bought extra batteries and a charger, a tripod, an accessories kit, a table top tripod, a boom mic, lapel mic, mic adapter, another case, and MORE and I still haven’t spent what I would have on the GoPro 9 camera alone, which I was also considering. Great video quality, features, etc.!! Going to order another one or two soon, hopefully.

This camera records very good outdoor footage. The stabilization is great except for one oddity which I’ll explain below. The options and features are very convenient and there’s a useful app for controlling the camera when it’s mounted on your head or something.
The camera is very much meant for outdoor recording. Indoors or in poor lighting the video becomes grainy and the quality drops accordingly. Outdoors or in good lighting the video is excellent. Given this is an action cam I think that is perfectly acceptable.
The stabilization is impressive. I can go jogging with it mounted on my head and while there is still movement it isn’t jerky at all and it’s moving much less than without stabilization, so the footage is good. I tried it mounted on my dog and was surprised at how well it did.
So far I have mostly used it for hikes on a head mount and it works very well. However here I found something strange between different modes. There’s a hyperlapse mode that takes very sped up footage. I have it set to 15x so as I understand it’s taking an image every half second and then stringing them together into 30fps video. Somehow this footage is ridiculously smooth. I’ve done a fair amount of testing on this where I record a walk at 1080 / 30fps (with Rocksteady) and speed it up to 15x and then I record the exact same walk on hyperlapse, and the hyperlapse looks like it’s on a camera track while the sped up video is shaky and tough to watch. I have tried applying video editing (smoothing, motion blur, and cutting frames out) in different ways to the sped up video but I cannot get it to look anything like the hyperlapse video. I think the hyperlapse employs magic. This is a plus for the camera, but it also makes me want the same kind of smoothing on the regular video 😛
Another quirk is that the camera doesn’t like sitting in a room when recording 4k/60fps footage. Mine overheated after about 45 minutes of recording in one spot in a room. I have done multi-day timelapses without issue so there’s no concern there, and I’ve had the camera recording on my head for a couple hours outside on a hot day without issue.
The options for various image resolutions and frame rates are plentiful. Something to keep in mind is the file sizes for different combinations. Multiple resolution/frame rate combinations will use the same bitrates and therefore file sizes, so check online for a chart showing what’s what if file size is a concern.
The phone app was a nice surprise for me as I’d somehow not known about it before buying the camera. It lets you connect to the camera to see the camera’s current view and change the same options you have on the camera itself from your phone. This is of course useful if you want to change settings without unmounting the camera, but for me it’s most useful to make sure the camera is mounted in a good position.
The connection with the app doesn’t work unless I put my phone into airplane mode and then manually enable Wifi and Bluetooth, but my phone has dumb issues like this with other products so I’m sure it’s my phone’s fault and not the app or the Osmo Action.
Overall I am very happy with this camera and I’m looking forward to using it while snowboarding this winter.

After two months recovering from my first terrible bicycle accident I suffered last January, I decided to invest in a camera for “safety reasons”. I watched many reviews on YouTube from GoPro to Insta360 and many more.
I decided to go for the DJI Osmo action camera and since I bought it, I have no regrets.
I’ve been using it everyday for a couple of months and I must say, it has never failed me once. Easy to use with only one touch and you are ready to go. The Video quality is great for the purpose I use it for, also fairly good during night rides.
Of course riding to work and back home on a daily basis (total 30 mins) on 4K fills up the memory card quickly and also the device needs charging everyday but that’s not a problem. So, what I do is, at the end of every week, I eliminate all unnecessary videos to be able to continue recording throughout the next week and so on… then there’s the app, that makes it simple and easier to do so, even to download those crucial moments you do not want to loose.
If you are looking for a camera to use on a daily basis while riding your bicycle or motorcycle, I recommend Osmo action because It’s easy and simple to use.
I use to fiddle around with it a lot during the first couple of weeks, to get use to it, but once you have it set the way that suits you, it’s just once touch to start recording even when it is off and you are ready to go 👍
I totally love it.

Really good value for money. Considering the age of the product and the features, it holds up in 2021. DJI is well known for their drones and cams on those drones. This does not disappoint. It is quick to startup, easy to understand and setup and the large screen is clear and great to view. The front facing screen is even better! The new firmware update is about 40mb and adds great additional features. The DJI Mimo app is also easy to use and connect the Osmo Action. I have tested with some outdoor activities and even astrophotography. The ulanzi mini tripod is a great purchase for this device.
The device itself comes with a USB-A to USB-C cable, 2x adhesive mounts, screw, mounting bracket, battery, battery case, manual and camera.
Don’t be scared to try this over the GoPro. I would say it compares and is better than the H7 & H8. I also noted it does not get as hot compared to the GoPros.

This is my second DJI Osmo Action cam. I’ve been using the DJI Osmo Action since May 2020 to make videos to post on a popular internet website. I shoot in 4K and render the videos at 1080 HD quality. This allows me to zoom in during post production and still maintain the quality of the video. This summer my cameras experienced shut downs due to the camera “overheating”. I never experienced this before this summer. Fortunately, I got that worked out with the help of an Amazon Live broadcast. I performed a factory reset of both my DJI Osmo cameras so I could set them up the same and help the video look the same from both cameras. Unfortunately, I did not change the Temperature Threshold setting after I performed the factory reset. If you use the camera outside during hot weather, you may need to change the Temperature Threshold to “HIGH”. The default setting is low.
Pros: Great Price
Great video quality
A lot of functionality
and a Great Price
Cons: A little bit of a learning curve to get the camera set up
Batteries are expensive
Instead of purchasing a battery and charger from DJI, look at buying an Anker PowerCore Speed 20000. DJI battery cost $30 and holds 1300mAh of juice. At $60, the Anker PowerCore has 15 times the power at twice the cost. You can plug the Anker into the charger port on the camera and run until your memory card is full.

I’ve owned two much more expensive GoPros, the last being a Hero 7 Black. The battery lasts easily twice as long as the GoPro, and the image quality is outstanding. The IS is so good, video from a dirt bike in extremely rough terrain looks like it was shot from a drone, hovering through the woods. This is a really nice action camera with a great price point. My only gripe is a noticeable transition when reviewing videos when it starts a new file. The file size is capped around 4.7 gigs *I think. I’d prefer to have the entire length of video on one larger file, and I haven’t figured out how to change this setting. I also shoot video with a Canon, and there is no noticeable glitch between the two (or more) files for longer videos, but there is a slight noticeable glitch when using files from the DJI. The wind noise is pretty bad, but I was able to easily fabricate using soft foam and hot glue a wind sock that works great.
