These are awesome strings. Punchy low mids and lows, and singing highs. They do what they say where they have more punch in the low mids vs the Hi-Beams high mids. They have the perfect amount of zing accosiated with stainless steel strings too.

I’m of the mindset that strings are the first thing I change on a bass new to me, and Fat Beams are a go-to. Steels.

Ordered them for my Fender Marcus Miller as my prefered alternative to his new signature Dunlop set. I use DR strings on most of my basses!

As a guitar and bass tech I see a lot of basses. But the overwhelming choice for strings remains DR Fat Beams. Great strings, great price, and I have yet to have a dud show up. If you’re getting ready to re-string your bass I encourage you to try these.

I bought a P bass clone (tagima) a little while ago and have loved playing it since day 1. I decided to give it new strings, just to see if it could be that much better, and ordered rotosound wing bass strings. Really wanted to like them, ended up hating the feel and the tone. They also had a TON of overtone vibrations, buzzing like crazy. Got the same set in a lighter gauge, and the A string became the problem. Returned both sets, and decided to try these.

Normally, I’m not a fan of DR’s guitar strings, but these bass strings are just fantastic. Great feel, great sustain, thick tone. It even sounds good just noodling without the amp on. Very happy to have found these and I’ll definitely be sticking with them next time around.

Il prezzo di queste corde non Γ¨ indifferente, ma la qualitΓ  del suono, il comfort e la durata delle stesse non trova paragoni con altri brand.

I switched to DR from Rotosound a long time ago. Rotosounds are just not the same anymore and have inconsistent playing life. I like these better than the DR Hi-Beams. To my ears they have a little deeper rounder tone on the E string. Playing life is pretty good on these as long as you wind correctly and wipe down after playing. Good strings. I’ll continue to buy and use these.

Big fan of Dr strings. Using Sunbeam all the time but this time I decide to slap fat beam on my Jazz bass. Awesome sound and “fat” “sharp” as described. The feeling is definitely more rough than sunbeam smooth feeling, but is not that bad! As long as you build your calluses with nickel strings and control your pressing/attacking fingers, this won’t peel your skin off. In addition, since it’s compressed wounding and handmade, it should feel better than other stainless steel strings in the market. Try one and you won’t regret it. Good luck and Stay rock!

Very sharp sounding right out of the box, and they get even better after a few days of playing. I can also say that after one month they sound amazing. Strings are quite flexible and can be bent with ease, if that’s your thing.

I’ve played sunbeams almost exclusively the last few years and on a whim decided to try Fatbeams. Glad I did, they are similar in tension and flexibility but are definitely low/low mid forward. They don’t have the clancky highs that other SS strings can have. Deeper and more open lows than sunbeams
