Strings were easy to put on and the package was labeled with which strings were what. The sound is pretty good but not as good as my nickel strings, however with that color you can’t beat it.

Used the strings for Halloween show, taped a black light on to my bass to light them up. Really good feel on my fingers, but found they lost tune easily, maybe still breaking in. Also found the tone a bit too ‘tinny’ for me compared to more standard strings from DR. So I switched back to other strings. If you got the time let them break in. Also, I use finger style, not sure how they work for a lot of pick playing.

Very happy with them 🙂 they look great under a blacklight, sort of giving off an orange glow (as in the picture). They’re pretty nice to play, but I noticed that sliding kind of burned my fingers, but that may just be a matter of breaking them in.

Just arrived this afternoon, so I’ve restrung my Epiphone EB3 and tried them out…perfect!!…look great against the Cherry Red body and play beautifully, not as hard on the fingertips (and I’m sure the fretboard) as regular roundwounds. I usually dont change strings on my basses unless I break one (which I havent done yet). so let’s see how many years I can get out of these babies.

I have been playing bass for 40 years and currently own 12 basses – fretted, fretless, 5 string, 8 string,
each type can benefit from a particular choice of string. These DR Neons are a direct replacement
for any rock n’roll application. They sound like the DR Sunbeams or Ernie Ball Slinkys to my ears.
The color coating is NOT indestructible! You will see some wear around the area you finger or pick
over time (over the pickups of your bass)but it is minimal. They are somewhat “sticky” to the touch compared
to plain nickel steel but not overly so. I have these pink ones on a pink Precision Bass and the look
gets many compliments at gigs. I bought a blue set for my blue Jazz Bass but they were dogs out of the
package – bad day at the DR factory I suppose! They lacked ANY edge or punch or sustain.
This has not yet happened with the three sets of pink ones that have been on my Precision Bass over
    the past two years.

I’ve never played coated strings, was surprised at how crisp they are. Treble is still there, and the tone is great. These are quality strings. A student used these for an 80’s themed drumline show and got tons of compliments.
