These are great strings from DR. I got the 100 Gauge. They are a little bit more stiff than pure blues. They have a good sound for rock/metal with a nice amount of warmth from the Nickel.
    Sound great on my Ray4.

I am a professional musician…professor and performer. They are quick, punchy, slick under the fingers and are balanced across the fingerboard. Best string made, IMO!

These strings are really great for slap bass and other funky styles of playing. The strings have more tension, so it’s easier to slap and pop, and are also suitable for regular finger playing as well. I play on a Squier Fretless Bass, and have previously played flatwound strings. These have the tone for which I was looking, but do leave marks on the fretboard. Other roundwounds I’ve played leave much more though, and I recommend buying these unless you want absolutely no fretboards marks, but do buy if you’re ok with a few. All in all, these are the best funk/slap strings available.

I bought these to help lower the action on my bass. They did infact allow me to lower the action by another 1/32 of an inch. Would buy again

The strings looked used, they were to short and was bent. Don’t think I should buy strings from Amazon again.

Don’t really care for SS strings so I was glad when I found out that DR made Lo Riders in a nickel wrapped version. Not as rough on the fingers and less grind than SS strings. Tone is excellent, pop and slap never sounded better lol, however fingerstyle sounds great as well. Nice clear tone, not too bright and a little more punchy in the lows/darker than the run of the mill SS strings. These strings replaced an old set of GHS Boomers and while the Lo Riders are a bit rougher than the GHS Boomers, the tone and overall feel are much better. I think they find the perfect balance between the SS and nickel feel, with GHS Boomers being on the very smooth side and Rotosound 66’s SS being on the extreme rough side. These strings are a bit pricier than the more well known brands ie D’adario, Ernie Ball, GHS etc, however imo these strings are worth every penny.

These strings have pretty great tone, but I do not love the way they feel to play. They can be a little buzzy at times. I have played nicer feeling strings.

These are my strings now. Each set has lasted me between 6 months to a year with outstanding tone and I just bought my 4th set.

I play a Fender Precision Bass and these strings deliver the classic P-bass tone – from growly to tubby and warm.

    Excellent strings.

I love these strings! I tend to be very finicky about every detail of my basses, so I have done a lot of experimentation with strings, and have never found a string type that sounds as good on my Fender Jazz bass as these DR Nickel Lo Riders. The nickel plating feels SO nice under my fingers that it makes playing a pleasure. With a band or even just jamming to recordings, the way they blend into the mix sounds perfect. One caveat – if you prefer a really a bright tone, these might not be for you. I haven’t tried the stainless version of these strings yet so I can’t say for sure, but they would probably be brighter from what I’ve read. But the feel of these nickels is so nice, I don’t even want to think about trying anything else. They also mellow very quickly which I also like.

Ive had flats on my P bass and pressuewounds on my J bass for the last few years, however recently Ive been moving more towards rounds for live shows. These strings are perfect if your transitioning from flats or cant stand the annoying zing and harsh highs of most rounds(like I do). In addition, with a hex core the strings have a higher tension than other rounds, this allows you to set the action very low and helps when your used to stiff bridge cable flats. They are of course a bit bright out of the box, as most strings are, but after a week or so they settle in nicely, and have a great low-mid bump thats perfect for passive Fenders. Also, the winding is a bit compressed so they feel much smoother that most rounds and dont chew up the frets nearly as much. Ive gone through most brands when searching for the right rounds, and these are my current favorites, the price, quality, tone and tension are just right.

I have been using these nickel Lo Riders for a long time on a bunch of different basses and they always seem to be able to cut through the mix whether it be a modded jazz bass or a Spector with an active circuit. These strings are wildly popular for a reason, they provide the perfect mix of mids and highs most players look for in a string and sound fuller and last alot longer than the D’Addarios and ER slinkys I have tried.

These strings make fingerstyle more enjoyable, they are smooth and very touch sensitive. I liked these so much that I started to buy them more than my beloved Hi Beams for my active bass because of the rounder sound and less harsh highs.

There are very few bad revies for these DR’s on the web and DR is always a quality brand. I may try the steel Lo Riders soon on my 5’er to compare the sound difference. Amazon has the best prices on bass strings as well as Prime shipping, so buying these is a no brainer.
