This is my first experience with PETG filament on this printer, and overall, this Elegoo Black PETG filament is definitely one that I’ll continue to experiment with, and come back to in the future. My initial impression is cautiously positive.
For context, I’m currently using an Ender 3 V2, mostly stock except for updated springs and metal extruder, and the e-steps were recalibrated. Most of my prints were made with settings around 245/70/33% nozzle/bed/fan, with the speed set to 40mm/s except for the first few layers at 15mm/s.
This filament has produced very dimensionally accurate prints (I could even read the ‘3DBenchy’ text on the back), with very consistent flow. I’ve had no clogs or hiccups in delivery, and the walls and fill have maintained their fill rate. Adhesion was excellent, producing solid grip during the print, clean detachment when cooled, and no elephant’s foot or peeling. The surface is shiny with a few extrusion defects, and the prints feel perhaps a little firmer than PLA?
The spool itself was cleanly wound, and the filament was vacuum packed with a calcium chloride desiccant. While the desiccant was saturated when I removed the packaging (i.e., it was gooey, not powder), the filament seems flexible, and I experienced only minor bubbling defects, and no true ‘popping’ during my printing.
Given the desiccant condition, it’s very possible that the stringing is related to some residual moisture content, but I’m leaning toward temperature as the first variable to fix – I’m slowly playing with bringing the temperature down, adjusting retraction, etc…, and it seems to be helping – I just haven’t dialed it in yet.
I did notice the filament slid through the bowden tube more easily than my usual spools. While that might be in part due to reduced surface friction from the PETG, I did measure the filament with calipers and consistently read 1.70 +/- 2mm. That’s 0.05 under spec – not enough to make a difference in printing, and I didn’t adjust my flow rate at all, but it may be just enough to reduce the friction in the tube.
Bottom line, this is a great value, at half the price of PLA, with some significant benefits in terms of material properties. It is a little more challenging to print, and may have some production consistency issues, but I think it’ll be worth the learning curve in short order.

love how once you get the temps and everything figured out how easy it is to print with

I really like the way this filament prints would highly recommend

Having printed almost the entire roll in the past few days, I can say this has been consistent and reliable filament. It prints very well, has nice flow, there has been no stringing, and the color is just right: not too cream and not to bright. I will definitely be ordering more.

I purchased two rolls to print several hooks for a friend.
The filament was well packaged and appeared to be well sealed. I dried it for a couple hours before printing. It printed without any issues. I did get some stringing earlier than expected so I would recommend drying for at least 12 hours before use.
Filament itself has a pretty wide temperature range and fairly opaque color. It is a softer white.
Overall, decent for the price.

Nicely wrapped and could not beat the value at the time. It did print well, but it sounded a bit wet with popping as it printed. Did not impact the print adversely. Even with this said I would consider purchasing again to use for prototype and test printing.

Elegoo’s a good brand. It stands to reason that their filament is good. If you’re looking for good PETG, this is a great option.

This is by far the best petg, i have tried 100s of different brands of filament and own more than 100 brands and I have to say elegoo has it nailed down, I like elegoo so much now that it’s about all I print with these days, it’s solid stuff it is strong and beautiful, easy to print with, I have come to enjoy printing petg lately over abs, it’s just easier and does about the same thing, great job elegoo keep it up, and if yall start making shiny silk filaments I’ll buy those too!
