This is my second Epson projector. I spent literally months learning about lumens and contrast ratios and a bunch of other stuff. The deal breaker or should I say deal maker for me was when this dropped from 999 to 799. Upon arrival, I replaced my older Epson projector with this one. Right out the gate it was obvious that a higher contrast ratio makes a huge difference regardless of lumen output. This one doesn’t come close to the 4000 or 5000 lumen projectors I was looking at, but that really doesn’t matter when the contrast ratio is this high as this one is. I used to have to close all the blinds, all the doors, all the lights, basically everything had to be as darkest possible during the the day to see the other projector, especially when it’s showing a nighttime view or a dark scene. This one allows me to leave Windows wide open doors wide open and I can still actually see clearly during night time scenes on TV shows and movies. Don’t get me wrong it’s not as bright as a television, but it’s bright enough to see what’s going on as opposed to guessing. This projector is probably the best value for a sub $1,000 projector. I have never experienced the rainbow effect because these projectors simply don’t do it, but I was tempted with the BenQ projectors with the higher lumen ratings. Now I don’t care anymore because I understand that it’s all about the contrast ratio, not the lumens.

    Pros:
    (1) Picture quality is really good. In-built android tv is handy and shows really good picture quality. For example, watching the same content via Roku didn’t look that good. (2) Remote for this projector is nice, modern, and with voice control as opposed to some of the other dated-styles remotes on other protectors.
    (3) Sound quality is reasonable and is ready-to-use for some basic use.
    However,
    (1) I was a little disappointed with the number of ports availability. All other epson projectors have 2 HDMI ports whereas this one has only 1 available to us because Epson used the other one to attach Android TV stick.
    (2) Throw ratio is pretty high. Meaning, to get the same size image with this projector, we have to put this very far away as opposed to other projectors like Epson 1060.
    (3) I wish the projector had better audio output options that it could send uncompressed audio signal to AV receiver to hear it with home theater system. Otherwise, there is no point in using the in-built android tv stick as sound quality will be sub-par.

I had another epson projector before this and unfortunately the HDMI port started failing. I was going to try a DLP projector by BenQ or Optoma but wasn’t sure how I would do with the color wheels. Decided to take a chance on another Epson.

The picture is amazing, VERY detailed and bright. I have a fairly light controlled room and a decent screen (1.1 gain pure white). The colors are very vivid and seem color accurate.

There is only 1 HDMI port on this (vs my other projector which had 2 – and yes both failed). It does have built-in speakers which could work in a pinch but not enough for home theatre listening.

Setup was easy, it does come with 2 remotes (1 for pure projector function and another for the android TV). I did a front ceiling mount which wasn’t fun because I mounted it first and then did setup upside down and backwards (so set it up on a table first before mounting). It wanted WiFi passwords, Google accounts, etc.

All in all, I got this on prime day during a great sale so I paid 1/2 what I did for my previous projector and it’s honestly better. Great value for the money.

    After a poor experience with one of the “cheap” projectors on Amazon, I bit the bullet and just ordered the Home Cinema 2250. Though I have no meaningful frame of reference, I have to say that I’m very satisfied. Random thoughts follow;

    1. I have a pitch black room, and the projector is too bright in normal mode. Lights up the room a bit. Perfect in eco mode.

    2. Sound is loud, and of fine quality. I think the criticism is unfair. No, the speakers aren’t going to outperform a hifi system, but they’re more than adequate for showing the kids a movie in the yard, or something. You’ll want external speakers for your home theater, but, you already knew that.

    3. Image quality; it’s fine. I can tell it’s not 4k, but for the price, I can live with that. Resolution aside, it looks great to me.

    4. I don’t notice the fans when a movie is playing, so I guess they aren’t too loud.

    5. Google TV is meh, but, epson made it trivial to replace the built-in google TV stick. I LOVE that. I replaced it with my roku stick. Works perfectly, other than needing 2 remotes. It’s like having a projector with built-in Roku TV.

    5. It just works. The only issues I’ve had have been with the Google TV dongle, and have had no issues since replacing that with a Roku stick.

Stunning picture quality. Great Inbuilt android tv and the Bluetooth connectivity is really great to connect the devices like sound bar. The picture quality is better than the previous version Epson 2150.
This Epson 2250 is the best full hd home cinema projector under $700. Great deal if you get this for $699 and less than that. Giving stunning picture quality when you use this projector with PVC projector screens. Other DLP projectors may have higher Lumens than this projector.
But this EPSON 2250 is using 3LCD technology which gives you very good brightness and contrast than other DLP projectors by using this 2700 lumens. Also 70000:1 contrast ratio will give you almost 4k quality
except in dark scenes. No need to worry about using DYNAMIC mode since the new lamp price is just $69 to replace. The only issue I found is the built in android stick is not supporting most of 4k movies in amazon prime if I am using my Samsung 3.1 360w sound bar.
When I used my amazon 4k stick or the built in speaker of the projector then it is working fine with all prime movies. So there is some problem with that android stick.
