Ok, there are pro’s and con’s here, and its not the strings, it’s me.
First off these strings have a unique feel, a smooth matte surface, and they feel very durable.
I play for fun with Rocksmith, and the normal bass strings have been hurting my fingers as I don’t play enough to get calluses. I looked into getting flatwould or groundwound strings to help with this issue. These strings are smooth, however, now I have new issues that I didn’t expect. Instead of the sandpaper feel of normal strings, these smooth strings burn my fingers (like a carpet burn) when sliding. This is probably due to the increased surface area touching your fingers using a flat string. I also noticed that my right hand is getting very tired plucking, I never had that issue with normal strings. It seems that it takes about twice the energy to pluck flat strings, probably again due to the increased surface area on the string surface. Also the flat strings have a different sound or tone than the normal strings, which I expected, the issue is that Rocksmith doesn’t pick up the low notes as well on these strings making it harder to play the game. The strings sound great through my amp, the issues I am having are particular to my noob situation, and playing Rocksmith. I am still pretty new to playing bass, and to anyone else out there playing rocksmith I recommend sticking with normal strings.

I put these on a Paranormal Rascal bass to give it a more vintage tone and to match the retro look. They held up well considering it’s a string through bridge and flats usually don’t like to bend around corners like that. Tone is great, they’re a little more punchy than most so you can still get a good rock sound when needed and they’re smooth as butter under my fingers. At $40 I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.

Nice flat wounds. Silk wrapping sits on bridge but sound seems okay. Like the smooth feel of these and minimizes buzzing and noise.

I put these strings on all my basses after trying them on a Fender Pbass. They are so smooth. Great action and incredible sound. I put them on a Fender custom shop 55 Pbass. They give me the same growl and deep bass as round wound with the comfort and playability of flats. Love em.

I got these strings because I wanted to mellow out and tame my bass which I always felt was too bass-ey (sounded like a synth sub bass). These flat wound strings really mellow it out and make it sound absolutely perfect, almost like they were made for each other.
I’ve played flat wounds on other people’s basses but this is the first time Ive put them on my own bass. I will say, if you are looking for these, be sure to be warned that they do mellow out the sound, so make sure that this is what you want. One of the pros of flat wounds is that they are smooth and feel good on the fingers and make it easier to slide, but the trade off is the mellow sound.
So in short these are perfect for basses that have bass to spare
The only negative with these strings (not worth taking a star off) is they are tipped in a light blue colour which clashes with the deep wine red of my bass. If I could get a yellow/orange/red tipped version I’d prefer that, but whatever

It was incredible. I couldn’t believe it. The bass strings I wanted but never knew existed . If you have never tried flatwounds, do yourself a favor and give them a chance. I will never go back to roundwounds again
Flatwounds are incredible to play and not as bright as roundwounds. I don’t care for the brightness, I’m playing bass, to me, the notes are supposed to sound dark and low, not bright. I know many bassplayers won’t agree, but that’s my opinion. Flatwounds forever, no turning back. They are incredible bass strings.
