I have a lot of love for the whopper plopper and the berkeley choppo. They are both really good lures. I compared these size wise to them and are really close. The rotating blade is slightly larger and basically the same overall lengh to the 110s. The hooks are very comparable. The colors are good. The action in the water is pretty good but not as good as the originals. But, at close to 1/5 the cost I think they did a really good job. I have taken it out once with no bites, but, only got one strike that night with my son using an original whopper plopper. I think it was just not a good productive night. I’d put these on any rod and especially any kids rod to save on losing expensive lures.

For less than the cost of 1 whopper plopper, these are a nice budget set of lures. They don’t have the kick and pray if the real thing so if you’re looking for aggressive surface disruption don’t buy these. If you want something that can give a subtle slow presentation like a jitterbug or can kick up a little spray when ripped these are good. The finish on these is stellar. Love the colors, think they knocked it out of the park particularly at their price point.
Cons
-the bodies roll on all of them at any type of fast retrieve. Perhaps a little weight on the belly would help that.
-one of the eyelets is gel-coated shut. It’s too thick to just knock out with a hook. Had to crush it with linesman pliers and dig it out with picks.
Overall I’d recommend these for subtle retrieves or to let your kids throw around. They are a mere fraction of the cost of whopper ploppers but definitely don’t retrieve the same particularly if you want to move them fast.

These lures arrived next day.
I had watched, read and heard a lot about these Whopper Plopper top-water fishing lures and was anxious to order some ready for our next fishing adventure.
By all accounts, many have reported to have had a great deal of success with these types of top water lures, and so we wanted to validate those claims for ourselves.
Each has two extremely sharp hooks, and those eyes!! They look so eerily realistic too. These are VERY lifelike lures with a superior splashing action that we feel sure, will call out those nearby predatorial fish.
Overal, these seem very well put together and finished to a high-quality finish, as much as any other lure that we have previously seen. And, at about $4 a pop, these lures are great value AND, they come in their own litle clear tackle box.
We cant wait to get these in the water at our local lakes and give these a try!

These are nice lures, great shape, nice colors, decent size. They have sharp hooks, two treb hooks and a free flowing “whopper plopper” spinning tail. I have no complaints off first impression. Great little topwater lure. Whopper ploppers are a known and widely used lure, great for bass and pike.

I’ve used a ton of whopper plopper type lures over the years and had a lot of fun. These are a very nice value for the price at less than half of a brand name. They work well and the hooks came pretty sharp. I usually touch up my topwater hooks anyway because I have more difficulty with hookups on topwater than other type of fishing. Topwater is my favorite type of smallmouth fishing even though it generally isn’t my most productive. It’s my favorite because it is so exciting to see a smallie just crush one of these. I usually fish topwater more in the evening but I did hook the largest smallie I got in the last two years at mid day on one of these. The colors are fine but I do wish the spinning tail was colored also.

These lures arrived faster than I expected and look great. I was worried that they would look like cheap imitations, but they’re fantastic. Everything is right and tight, weight and performance are good. Some of the color patterns seem a bit odd, but bass will eat pretty much anything. I look forward to lots of time on the water with these handy lures that come at a great price. Can’t beat paying 1/5 of what the name brand costs.

One thing I love doing is fishing topwater. I love watching the bass blow up on some lures. I saw these and had to order them because I like Whopper Ploppers. I believe these are close to the 75 size range because I have the big ones and I have the smaller 60’s size and these are right in the middle. I was really hoping that these would run good but I found that these are to heavy in the belly and will stay below the waters surface for most of the retrieval… even with the rod tip all the way up in the air. So unfortunately these were a fail in my book and will now be ornamental in nature. Oh, and one of the color patters is of a clown fish which is why I referenced Nemo in the heading.
