This is an excellent product currently offered at a great price (close to half what other sellers are selling it for or what you would find pricing-wise in a pet store), but the Amazon listing provides absolutely the WRONG DIMENSIONS. This product is12″ wide by 36″ long (functionally 13″ wide by 36.5″ long). It hinges in the middle which allows (when you open it) a 13″ by 18″ opening. That turns out to be perfect for my tank.

Not for a 30 or 29 gallon tank. It’s 36 inches long not 30. The width would have worked though. They should just advertise it as the inches. Because it’s not for a 30 gallon tank. But it does seem sturdy and well made. If you have a 36 inch long.

We have two, one on a 75 gallon tank for our Beardie and one on a 30 gallon tank for our gerbils. Because of the lights and heater on top for the lizard it is awkward holding the other half open as it leans against the lights. We rigged a hanger catch from the ceiling to hook it on to keep it open which works well for us. It is a solid metal frame, hinges and screen. The only reason we didn’t give it 5 stars is due to the issue to keep it open, however it is perfect for being able to access the lizard and not have to move the lights or heaters every time you want to open the top. It would be great if Exo Terra developed some type of system so the half lid could hold open at 90 degrees, It works great for the gerbils as there are no lights or heaters on the other half and the lid folds right over. The covers have a decent amount of weight for security but we use the Zilla Heavy Duty Screen Clips for peace of mind.

The cover fits my 30 gallon aquarium perfecrly. My tank is 12x36x16 inch and it covers the whole length. The cover is very sturdy and will most likely not break easily. The mesh at the top is tight and there are no parts that are loose or floppy. The hinge works perfectly and it opens wide so I can fit my whole arm in. Easy for maintenance.
