For the most part, this is a nice enough window air conditioner. I used it for two weeks in a room, which is 375 sq’. We previously had a portable unit that is rated at 13k BTU in that room, which keeps up nicely, however it’s pretty loud and draws around 12 amps when the compressor is running, so it’s roughly 1300W. The Frigidaire is only rated at 10k BTU and it was consuming 820W while the compressor ran, so it’s actually significantly more efficient. The ad states the AC covers up to 450 sq’, but I do think that’s a bit optimistic. It’s been a very hot Summer, but I think this window AC might be best in spaces well below 450 sq’. In all fairness, cooling ability should really be expressed in cubic feet, as we do have 10′ high ceilings, however, cool air settles lower in the room, which is more than enough offset to make up for 25% more cubic feet.

The unit seems to be high quality and it’s significantly quieter than our portable unit. The remote control is ultra basic, with just on/off and up/down. Compared to the portable unit, which has an LCD display and the ability to see both ambient temperature and the present unit’s settings, it’ll do the job, but for the price point of the AC I do feel they could have a much nicer remote. I’m less inclined to use the app when I can just use the remote. The unit itself has just an LED temperature setting for a readout, again, super basic. No real complaints, just picky stuff. For the price, I do feel you’re paying a premium for the brand name. I’ve had good experiences in the past with the Frigidaire brand and I think it’s reasonable to expect the unit to last for many years.

First off, this is a QUALITY air conditioner. Everything about it is first class, and they didn’t skimp on anything.

This arrived securely packaged and in good working order.

Once you have this seated and secured in the window (it does have a bit of weight to it), setting it up is pretty straightforward. You can operate it manually of course, or you can pair it with a smart assistant (Alexa or Google Home). I tried it with Google Home and it worked fine.

This unit supports the use of high quality filters, if you want to use them. They are optional, but it is nice that you have that option, and I think some people will really like that capability.

I have to say this unit cools great – really great. It puts out plenty of nice cold air.

If you want a much nicer than average air conditioner that is really well made, this is it!

Frigidaire is a well known and trusted brand. Most of our kitchen appliances are Frigidaire. It made the purchase of the window AC an easy decision. Installing the unit is fairly easy, taking about an hour. The AC is heavy, weighing about sixty pounds. I highly recommend Installing it with another person. Being heavy we used a support bracket outside to support it so not to put all the weight on the window. Everything you need is included. The remote control is easy to use and makes it convenient to change settings from across the room. The Wi-Fi feature is really nice. There is a free mobile app that gives you control of the AC from anywhere. I turn the AC up when I leave and can lower the temperature before I get home. The unit blows cold air but is also extremely quiet. The noise can be an issue with other AC’s, but I’m impressed with the Frigidaire. We have a six hundred square foot vacation home and the unit cools it perfectly without running all the time even though its rated for four hundredand fifty sq ft. In the ever increasing heat, this AC has worked perfectly. We are loyal Frigidaire customers based on the quality of their products. The price is comparable to most all retailers, but it is much more convenient to have it delivered. You can’t go wrong with this AC.

I like the combination of relatively quiet and excellent performance. My only gripe is that I am unable to get it to pair with Alexa or Google. The one I have in my bedroom window worked with Alexa for a little while, but then stopped working, and I could not get it to work again.
This one here the 10,000 BTU works great with the Frigidaire app so you can completely control it with your iPhone etc. That’s a big deal because the included remote is sparse when it comes to control options. For example, this AC automatically starts when you turn it on in the “Eco” mode which saves you on electricity, but doesn’t cool as much. There is no way to turn off Eco using the remote; you can do it in the phone app, as well as others, and you can do so anywhere in your house or building via Wi-Fi. So, you could wake up in the morning for example in your bedroom, and tell the app to turn on the AC in the kitchen. You are not actually telling it, but rather pressing the on button on the screen. The convenience is there, but I wanted to be able to use Alexa as they advertised.
As you know with smart devices sometimes setting them up is a challenge, so I am giving this advice tongue in cheek. I have been computing, and even had a computer business for decades. I could not find any instructions for doing an Alexa setup in the instruction book, or the installation instructions either. I tried adding the device in the Alexa app and she told me to add it to skills. When I went into skills it even had “Frigidaire A/C” listed in the skill set, but when I clicked on it, it did a search and said, “something went wrong”. I even changed my password with Frigidaire to make sure that was not the problem but still got the same error message. I tried it with Google as well and got the same “something went wrong” message. Be sure and turn on the pairing function on the AC by pressing and holding the Wi-Fi button” for 3 seconds on the top. I did that but it still doesn’t work. I tried it again on my old Frigidaire AC in my bedroom which worked for a while and then stopped working and will not pair again. There are a lot of reviews on the Frigidaire app saying they all had the same problem. Okay, I am spending way too much time on the Alexa function. Time to talk about the AC.
I was surprised that the installation sizing was not much different than my 6K BTU unit from Midea that I had in the same window. If you are wondering if this 10K BTU AC from Frigidaire will fit in your window it needs 13 1/4″ top to bottom to fit. The side-to-side dimensions are not important because it fits such a wide array of sizes with the fold out side panels, and of course how deep it is to go outside doesn’t matter either because outdoors has lots of space. I put it in a smaller garage awning window opening so I was surprised that it fit. Follow the instructions when installing.
This unit is advertised at 42DB as far as how quiet it is, and yes, it is pleasantly quiet, but when set to full cool mode it occasionally lets out a little more hum. It’s like the compressor is kicking on in overdrive or something. Overall, Frigidaire is still a favorite. Highly recommended.
