Gamalta Aquarium Light, 14W Natural Mode, Adjustable Timer Description

  • 【Upgrade Version】This fish tank light is an upgraded version, with a larger size of lamp beads and a shiny surface that is bigger and more stable. It won’t hurt your eyes when you look at your fish tank. The retractable stand measures a maximum of 6 inches and fits most freshwater tanks with and without lids. The aluminum housing with grooves provides excellent water resistance and heat dissipation
  • 【24/7 Natural Mode】The Aquarium Light has a lighting pattern that can simulate sunrise to night. By default, the aquarium lights change to gold yellow from 6 am to 8 am, change to white after 8 am, and then gradually change to blue from 6 pm to 10:50 pm, remaining off the rest of the day. You can use the 24H button + 6 time point indication to set the first running time. By default, it turns on at 6 o’clock, and the whole time period can be advanced or delayed
  • 【Customization Mode】You can set the light’s color, time, and brightness according to your needs. There are eight color settings, white, red, green, blue, purple, gold yellow, cyan, and cycle. In addition, you can set your running time to 6H/10H/12H, respectively. With five brightness levels, you can adjust the brightness from 10%-100% and long press for stepless dimming
  • 【High-Quality Lamp Beads】The fish tank light adopts high-quality 5730+5050 type lamp beads, so the light is more stable, with no strobe. With 85% of the color rendering index is close to natural light, bringing better light perception for fish and your eyes. The lamp beads are made of glue-filled technology, with an acrylic baffle to prevent water vapor from entering, making it more waterproof and extending its service life

If you can get it programmed, this light is great. However, the design of the power cord inline controller, and the instructions for how to use it, suck. (Full disclosure: I have an IT background and consider myself a UX dweeb; I have a website devoted to the usability of medical software.) When I first got it, after reading the instructions, I was able to get it to the automatic 24-hour cycle. But then we had a several-hour power outage, and my wife found the lights shining brightly at 11 PM and simply pressed the power button to turn off the lights. This morning, I realized I needed to reset the timer for the 24-hour cycle. In the spirit of “if a door needs a user manual – even a one-word user manual – it’s a design failure” I grabbed the inline controller and tried to figure out how to reset it. Press the 24-hour button? Did nothing. Press it several times? Did nothing. Maybe I need to press the 24 hour button and then the very flat 8 AM button? Nothing. Read the user instructions… didn’t help. Looked on this page for more help… couldn’t find any. OK, just press buttons at random to see what works. Finally figured it out.
Press on/off button to turn unit on (essential) > press 24-hour button > wow, that “8 AM button” is a light that lights up! > press the 24-hour button a few times as those buttons (really lights) cycle through the day until I get back to 8 AM being lit > I’m back in business.
**** UPDATE *** just a few days after purchasing
I have upgraded my rating to 5 stars. The company contacted me about my concerns, right away, in a respectful way. I did offer specific recommendations for improving the user instructions, which they said they would use in the next revision of their instructions. They also offered a partial refund, which I declined, as I thought it would taint this review update. I will also add that now that I have discovered how it works, the user interaction design seems pretty simple. In UX terms, not very discoverable but very learnable and memorable. When the power goes out, and I reset the timing for the 24 hour cycle, it’s really quite easy now that I know how. I did put a label on the aquarium as a reminder but it’s really pretty superfluous once I showed my wife how to do it. It is a “see one, do one, teach one” sort of skill. But then, I found out that someone – not me – had requested a replacement unit. I had no problem with the unit, just the instructions. I received the replacement unit without my request and was going to give it away until amazon demanded I return the original. Despite an hour of trying, I was unable to contact amazon to let them know this was a spurious return; I would end up at a dead end with both the text chatbot and the voice chatbot where none of the options applied. One star for amazon.com’s customer service.

I like the light because it does what it’s supposed to do. It’ bright, maybe a tad too bright. Only thing is that in the default 24/7 mode, you cannot customize it. Plus the light goes on at 6 am and goes off at 11pm. That’s 17 hours, and may be a bit too long a length to run it if you are concerned about it promoting algae growth. To get around that, you will have to have it run in one of the 6, 10, 12 hour choices. It won’t change throughout the day, like in the 24/7 mode. You have a choice of one color out of 7, and brightness, or having it change to every color once every 2 minutes using the color mode key. Anyway, it’s been working for me for awhile now and I have had no problems with it.

So far so good. These lights have far exceeded my expectations. For such a low price you get your money’s worth as long as it lasts longer than a year. I have them sitting above the water underneath my tank hood so we will see if the light stands up to the moisture but the description says it’s water resistant so it should. All of the features work as intended and the 24 hour cycle is great.
Brightness is above average, definitely better than the ones that came with my tank hood. My tank is just over 13 inches wide and this light fits very well. If this light holds up I will be buying more!

I turn it on at 6.30am and it goes through the different light phases and turns itself off around 9pm
I turn it off or it starts up again around 2am, so not really 24 hour timer
But it works great going through the different phases
    Would buy again

This aquarium light is awesome. I originally used the 24 hour feature and decided to switch to the 12 hour timer. However, the light continually turned off after 10 hours. I reached out to customer support and received an instant response saying the light had a Bluetooth module and the issue could be resolved by using their app on the Apple app store and updating the light. I replied to them that I had an Android phone and couldn’t use the app They advised to wait a couple of days and their engineers would have an app available on the Google Play Store. True to their word, it was available in a couple of days. I downloaded it and easily updated the light. Tested the timer the following day and it now works as it should. Who would have thought that an aquarium light would have Bluetooth capabilities. Excellent customer service and support. Do not hesitate to purchase products from this company. You won’t be disappointed.

I have had no issues with this tank light and, when I had a question, it was answered promptly. I have a planted tank. The 24 hour cycle works great but keeping the light on that long increased algae growth. It now goes on the 6 hour cycle and it starts up every day automatically. My tank is clear and my plants look great. Good value too.

I really like this tank light with one exception, it gets warm to the touch on top. Cool to watch it come on with the timer starting with low light then coming up to full daylight. Totally adjustable and great timer.

Wish I would have got one of these awhile ago!! Love the brightness and that you can dim the light as well. Also love that you can change the color of the light. I turn it on blue at night, and looks dope!

I purchased this as it was waterproof and I could install it inside my current hood as the original leds failed due to age.
I prepped the hood and the hot glue gun to stick it to the hood..
The pic is daylight cycle at 75% daylight.
Different colours are pretty cool and time seems fine, straight forward. I’m using the automatic 24 hour for now and will see how it goes.
Product appears to be well made and very adaptable for the purpose I had in mind for it
Update after using this for a few weeks on the timer, this light really makes the fish colors pop. I’m thinking of converting my other tank hood lights they look so good.
Only comment is if the controller cord to the light fixture was longer

This light is actually a decent light bright enough basic features . the problem is if you have this same light in a different size from this manufacturer the 24 hour timer function works differently on these lights for some reason even though the manufacturer assured me they are exactly the same and i had to try two different lights before figuring that out . thats why the 3 stars

It fit my 20 gallon nano tank perfectly. Has color options and a programmable light to mimic dusk to dawn and turn off at night. Easy to use.
