The ice is great. Unfortunately, the product requires a lot of effort to maintain it. If you do not clean it often, it will start to make a loud screaming sound. By “often,” I mean about every two weeks. The cleaning process requires you to spend about 45 minutes at a time running multiple cleaning cycles over and over. GE’s customer service for this product is also surprisingly poor. They typically take 72 hours to respond, and when they do, they demand all kinds of information annd documentation about where, when, and how you purchased the product before they will respond in any substantive way. After you have spent an inordinate amount of time looking up irrelevant details designed to make you give up, they give you no helpful information. So, beware before you purchase this ice maker that you will have issues and that GE has designed layers and layers of frustration to keep from helping you and to make you give up.

I was nervous getting this from the reviews that I read. I was pleasently suprised. It is quiet. It can make the first round of ice within 7 minutes. The ice is not “wet”. It is easy to add water and it works wonderfully with Alexa.
I do wish that there was a hose hook up and sensor that would allow me to tap into my fridge water supply so that it filled itself, but it is not terrible withhout it. I fill it up each morning as coffee is making and that’s all I do each day. It wil take about 8 cups of water and that will fill the bin twice. You can over fill. For example, you can have a full bin of ice and then fill up the water reservoir. It will stop making ice until the amount of ice drops, then it will start making ice until it fills up again.
I have to listen for it to hear it. I have mine on a schedule with Alexa to make ice from 5am – 10am and then again at 4pm – 10pm. works great. With this schedule, I have always had ice when I went to get some.
Really satified with this product and would suggest it. The reservoir is nice, but I don’t have it and am not planning to buy it. Haven’t needed it. Wish the price was about $100 less, but I’m not fussying that much. Solid build.

Awesome nugget ice better than your local hospital or Sonic. Machine can be loud on defrosting cycle when dirty. A through cleaning of residue will restore machine to original status. I use filtered water and still experienced sediment and residue after a few weeks. Clean machine as recommended to avoid taste and noise issues. Unit is a little large for cabinet top, I keep it in the utility room on counter.

This is the best gift I think I’ve been given. It makes ice quickly, I’ve never run out, and it is the perfect consistency (the pellet ice is the best!). Easy to set up, easy to clean, and has quickly made my freezer ice maker almost obsolete.

Had one for years in our house – wanted another for the office. Ordered it and it was broken out of the box. Literally couldn’t get through the clean cycle on initial use. Had to return it using UPS. Weighs a ton and it was a huge pain. Ordered another because I knew how awesome the old one is – works great. Hopefully a rare issue but if you have to return – you are in for a rough time. But we are very happy now. I recommend even with the one dud.

I could not be happier with this purchase. The ice looks and tastes great and it makes more that I could use in a day. It makes lots of unique sounds, but it’s no louder that any of my other kitchen appliances. I was surprised by the amount of heat it generates while making ice. I just made sure there was plenty of space around it. I would definitely recommend it to my friends.

This is a great ice machine. Although it only makes enough ice for 3 small cups at a time, we bag the ice up and freeze it to refill our ice maker in our fridge.
I do find it a bit crazy that they do not send the filter for it with it! For the price you pay for this machine it should have the large water filter and the side tank with it. We did purchase both separately which adds up quickly since the side tank is another $100 and the filter is around $15 I think.
All in all it makes the great Sonic style ice we love it’s just a bit on the pricey side!!
