Excellent unit. Not sure what other consumers talking about in reference to unable to add Plex. I have everything thing that is on my new video shield symmetrical with the new Google streaming player. It also includes Plex. Image quality outstanding. Fast and snappy. Make under performing apps such as the new Tablo app for the new version a pleasant experience.

I just setup my new Google Streamer , simply because my Samsung TV os sucks . The actual streamer has a smaller footprint than I expected which is actually a plus . You will need a hdmi cable as this doesnโt come with it . And setup is no harder than any streamer . Would recommend getting it setup through the Google home app as it saves a lot of time . The setup pretty much takes about 15 minutes from setup to updates completing . If you are familiar with Google tv OS then itโs pretty easy to navigate. The remote is longer and has some texture , feels nicer than then the previous remote . Biggest difference on remote from previous 4k Google chromecast is a longer remote , the volume buttons are on the front instead of the side , and it has a program button that allows you to shortcut a fave app, or Google home button to control smart devices . Or just to swap inputs . It has Dolby Atmos ,Dolby vision so if you have that setup it sounds great . I have Google home controlling my Phillips hue lights and nest thermostat . Itโs nice to be able to do that right from the Home Screen .
It is much snappier & quicker response than previous chronecast 4k with remote . Zipping through menus, selecting apps and programs is much quicker than my Samsung tv os sucks. Thread border router functionality makes communication with my smart devices simple . WiFi speeds are decent & it does have an Ethernet port for even more stable connection The streamer has 32gb of onboard storage which is more than enough for me . It also has a remote finder button on back of device to help you locate that missing remote .
Picture quality is excellent as well . Setting up apps is quick as far as sign in as well. Is it better than Apple TV 4K or nvidia streamer ? No but it also is $30-$50 less. Overall initial impressions are itโs great , and over time I expect it has more functionality with updates etc . It does have some AI functionality in generating screensavers , but as of now thatโs more a cool thing to try at 1st , then you will probably get over it .

This TV streamer works very well! First off, the device itself feels nicely made and doesn’t feel cheap. It is small and compact enough that it won’t take up a lot of space and fits in nicely with my decor. I really like the overall design and color. It looks and feels premium.
It is very easy to setup and it includes just about everything you need to get going. It comes with a very nice remote and uses 2 AAA batteries (which are included). It does not come with an HDMI cable which is required to use it. Once plugged in, it guides you through the setup on screen. Just follow the prompts. This off course, does run official Android Software and you have access to the Android TV store. It is also possible to sideload other apps, if you wish. I really like the official Android TV Software and it’s overall design and functionality.
I’ve used this with all the major streaming apps and had no issues streaming 4K and full HD video where available. It does play 4K video without any stuttering or freezing (just make sure your internet can handle it). I played a few games on it and it handled it well. I would not play any graphics intense games unless you do it through a cloud service. All of the games in the store should be just fine.
There is no lag that I noticed while using this and switching between apps. It’s quick and snappy and can handle a good bit of apps and games with it’s built in storage. It is possible to add more storage via the USB-C port with a hub if you need to.
All things considered, I really like this TV Streamer and it is quite powerful for the price. It is a nice, cheaper alternative to some of the more expensive boxes out there and I really like it! I will be getting more of them!

Audio gets ahead of video by a full second after four minutes of direct playing AV1 content (multiple files) with Emby. Playing the same content in the same manner on the Walmart onn 4K Pro has no audio sync issue (nor does the Homatics Box 4 4K Plus). Something is definitely wrong with AV1 playback on the Google TV Streamer 4K.
Also… the build quality is “OK”, but not great. The unit could use a little more heft/weight (so it doesn’t pop a “wheelie” when you plug hdmi and ethernet cables in on the rear). And the packaging was a bit on the subpar side (flimsy cardboard).

As a long time Chromecast user, I wasn’t sure what to expect with the new streaming device – but it is fantastic! Simple setup, faster than previous Chromecast versions, beautiful picture quality, the same UI you’ve come to know and love from Google, and having the Google Home App directly on my tv screen is a big plus – I love being able to see activity from the doorbell with a simple glance at the TV. The new form factor is sleek and chic, also much smaller than I expected. We’ve bought 2 so far (porcelain here on Amazon), which blends in seamlessly with the white woodwork where one of our TVs is located, and also the hazel (a dark gray color) from the Google store – which is perfect for our other TVs where speakers and other trim in that area is dark. Will likely upgrade our other CCs with this streamer as well. Oh, also of note – the new remote is nice! Slightly larger than previous CC remotes, which my partner says is a better organic fit for his hand, and nice to have the volume buttons directly on the face as opposed to the side. Added bonus is the find my remote feature. Overall, great update by the team at Google!

I have a newish Samsung S90C TV with up to date software / firmware. Couldn’t get it to boot. A grief “G”, then a grey screen. Did hard resets and talked to tech support for an hour. Got screens on the reset they didn’t even know about — looked like boot codes. It is not ready, and neither are they. Back to Roku, which I am nor fond of — they have problems of their own, like constant HDCP errors that they will not admit to and address.
