I’ve had these for 3 seasons and they are great! They are highly customizable and their wireless and Bluetooth range is better than I expected. Software updates are available and seamless through the app.
However I do have some critical feedback. As others have shared, the controller is not water proof and I protected it by using a SOCKiTBOX. Also, the distance between the power plug and controller is not ideal. I had to use a longer extension cord and place the SOCKiTBOX in a noticeable location on our yard. Secondly, the stakes are too short for any type of surface and easily detach from the lights. As a result, the back of these devices are exposed and susceptible to being damaged. So far, they are resilient, and I have not had any issues. My workaround from keeping them in place, and not flipping over, was to use Landscape staples (“U” shape).
Regardless, I would still recommend these.

I ordered one set and I loved the way it looked that I ordered another set so it would wrap around. Super easy to install and set up. If one complaint, the stakes for the ground are very short – I just go around every month or so and push them into the ground. They can somewhat shift depending on weather.
They look great!

Govee has become my go to brand for lighting and I have several sets. This one just may be my favorite! I set these up the day they came and I absolutely love how they look. Some things mentioned in other reviews: The size – they are smaller than I anticipated, but I actually like that they are smaller. Any bigger and they would have looked funny. The spike is small, but plenty long enough to hold them down and I am not concerned about it breaking off pushing it into the ground as I have done many times with various solar lights. Pay attention to how you are snapping the spikes on, there is a wrong way and a right way and they will pop off easily if they aren’t snapped on correctly. The cord length – you have about 12.5 feet from the first light to the plug. That was plenty for me, but could be a consideration for some. The brightness – look in the app, everything is customizable. I have had an issue connecting them to wifi, but I think that has more to do with my router than the lights because it is on my list of things I need to replace so I won’t dock a star for that. You do not need wifi for them to work perfectly. I have mine set to turn on and off at set times and that has worked perfectly even without wifi. We did have some significant heavy rains since I installed them and I woke up to 2 of them under water and they show no signs of damage from that. I did wrap plastic bags with zip ties around the connection point and whatever the power box thing is on the cord , but I do plan on buying water proof boxes just to be safe. The box does indicate they are fully waterproof, but the description here says otherwise so I dont want to take a chance.
One thing to note with all of the previous Govee products I have purchased – if the power goes out, when it comes back on your home will look like you are throwing a disco party at 2am. They all default to ON and have to be turned off. I don’t know if that is the case yet with this particular set, but I thought it would be worth mentioning.
All in all Govee gets 5 stars in my book and this set is no exception!

These lights live up to the hype so far. Easy to install and setup. No hub needed. The spikes are short so you may want to pin the cord down with a landscape fabric staple next to each light. Get a box for the plug. The lights are brighter than you’d think. You can control the colour and brightness. Lots of preset options or you can make your own. I only needed one string of lights for my front yard but it looks so good that I’m trying to think of somewhere else I could use these so I can buy more! I’m using these as a permanent display so still need to see if they last our mild Canadian winter.

I have purchased 12 sets and we have truly enjoyed them. I have not had one set to fail (yet) like many reviews have stated and I have a theory as to why. While the lights are ip67 rated, the adapter and their in-line controller are not! It’s important to have these two components on each strings in a weather tight electrical box (also on Amazon) to protect these components from the weather.
I will update if any issues arise.

The lights can only dance to the music through the app ie using the phone’s microphone.

These were a compromise purchase. I like them well enough – not bright enough to replace my 1985 low voltage lighting system, but add amazing accent and fun capabilities using the app. The LEDs are just not bright enough to replace the existing low voltage lights. Additionally the LEDs are fixed on the wire and after trying many different ways to place them in the garden I really need about 50% more length (45 feet instead of 30 feet). But they have great color and you can make them do amazing things with the app – just know you will hate the app within a few minutes of ‘trying to figure it out’. OMG – I hate the app. But once you get the lights doing what you want its a nice string of lights. I may purchase an additional strand and see if I can get them to ‘sync up’ – but because my outlet is on one side of the garden Im not sure how Im going to make that work.
